Honor guard for Watertown firefighter Joseph Toscano

Watertown firefighter Joseph Toscano's body was transported this morning from Mount Auburn Hospital to the state medical examiner's office on Albany Street in the South End this morning, passing by firefighters, police officers, EMTs and paramedics who assembled to honor him after his death yesterday at a two-alarm fire. 617 Images watched first responders line up outside the medical examiner's office.

I watched some of the coverage on NBC Boston-video is posted on their website. Especially moving to see the six firefighters escorting the hearse on foot.

... are rarely hacks. Some are genuine heroes, as Mr. Toscano is. Most are hard working folks.

Police, firefighters, paramedics can and are heroes. Outside of them, I'd say the majority are in fact hacks, and none are heroes.

I understand the fraternity of firefighters and it is a good thing to honor civil servants but I really think they could have done him better service by not shutting down the Expressway, the Pike, and every entrance ramp to them during RUSH HOUR! How is his memory served by the blaring of horns, the gridlock, and the road rage caused by this?
