Protests and Counter-Protests. Who's Winning The PR Battle?

Over the weekend there were protests and counter-protests. In Boston, there was a March4Trump at the state house that drew about 100 people and a rally for Planned Parenthood at the band stand on Boston Common only a few hundred yards apart.

These two rallies were concurrent. Both groups left each other to it. I saw no reporting of confrontation or angry words, threats, vandalism, fisticuffs or violence. Here's an image of the Planned Parenthood rally.

March4Trump was a nationwide effort. It did not in aggregate attract the same crowds as Women's March but it drew supporters out and to that I say good. I may disagree with the politics but not the right to assemble and advocate.

Here's a report titled, "Lake Oswego “March 4 Trump” Devolves Into Incoherent Animal Noises" at Lake Oswego in Oregon where the March4Trump rally met a counter protest in the same place at the same time

In Berkeley CA, March4Trump formed as MarchOnBerkeley. Folks from off campus including San Francisco participated. There too pro-Trump and counter protesters clashed but not just with words and threats but brandishing a knife, pepper spray, and flag poles used as clubs. That said, it was not a melee it was skirmishes

This video captured some of the bluster and insult.

I feel bad for the man in the red hat who got pepper sprayed (see below). I think he's the same man as in the above video. Provoking each other seemed to be the currency of the debate, which doesn't seem very productive.

The folks who decided that March4Trump would MarchOnBerkeley chose it for a reason. I can't recall a single time when I was in college that Republican supporters marched on to my campus to hold a rally. The response, too, was unproductive.

March4Trump in BerkeleyCA was staged as MarchOnBerkeley for PR value. Who do you think is winning?

Here's a picture of a rally in Boston at the statehouse on February 26 to investigate Trump. People are worried about his mental health, if he's been compromised by Putin, and if his companies are profiting from the presidency.

Here's a video of Women's March around the US on January 21. I don't recall a single report of confrontation or violence at Women's March.
