A roving UHub photographer spotted this bun hanging out in front of the Islamic Society of Boston mosque at Roxbury Crossing this afternoon.

I think bunnies are are a great alternative "city" pest to squirrels, raccoons or skunks. But then again I don't have a vegetable garden in my yard!

Is it just me or has there been an explosion in the local bunny population recently?

Also, turkeys.

Also, ants :(

Its not just you, I have been seeing bunnies for at least a year now. Some of the bigger ones are somewhat startling at night, in say, an empty lot staring at you. The turkeys, saw three in the past month, compared with seeing none in Boston in probably my whole life!

Yes the sparrows too I thought it was just me! They seem much more active, fluttering all over the place, catching flies to eat, in mid-air.

They have been increasing in number for the last couple of years. Not sure why. I'm used to seeing them in the conservation areas along the Mystic, but I'm seeing far more in my neighborhood than ever before. Did the coyotes go on strike?

My cat loves it, though. She's been doing a amazing job keeping them out of the garden. I wonder if she thinks that the reason that humans plant a garden is to attract food for her. Rabbit is her favorite. She's also been snacking on snails. (maybe she's French?). Keeping our little corner of the world safe for green beans and tomatoes, certainly.

And likely killing a ton of migratory birds as well, natch.

is there a connection between the increase of other rodents and rabbits and the increase of lyme this season?

It might be that they have moved into areas where there the Coyotes aren't yet. We have had then in our Brighton backyard for 2 years now, where I as I had been seeing them in Kendal Square for 4 years or so.
