Roslindale driver charged with killing man by slamming into his cab while driving drunk on I-95

State Police report a passenger in a taxi died around 1 a.m. when a car smashed into the back of the cab at "an extremely high rate of speed" on I-95 southbound in Attleboro.

Michael Spinale, 41, of Roslindale, was charged with OUI, motor-vehicle homicide, negligent operation, speeding, failure to use care in stopping and failure to stay within marked lanes, State Police say.

Police say the victim, Kailash Bolar, 39, of Warwick, RI., was in the back of a cab driven by a 50-year-old Brockton man. The cab driver was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with minor injuries.

Spinale is being held at a State Police barracks in lieu of $10,000 bail, pending his arraignment Monday, State Police say.

Innocent, etc.

I wonder how many miles this guy was doing 100 before he found an immovable object. Over/ under 50?

If he came from Roslindale down I-95, he'd only be on I-95 for about 25 miles.

But the real reason I'd bet on "less than 50" is because this is the northeast and it is very hard to drive very far at very high speeds without hitting something. You can cross Montana in six hours doing 100 the whole time and making a stop for gas. MA? Older, less straight highways built for 70mph and far more other road users and on/off ramps to deal with.

There's no way anyone could get on I-95 from 128 doing over 70.

That said, let's not gloss over the double recklessness here- going 100 while drunk.

that, no matter how many fatal OUI's I read about, it's never the driver that's killed. I don't believe in karma, but I'm glad these assholes have to suffer with this for the rest of their lives.

fwiw, the worst one of the week has to be the girl who was killed on the williamsburg bridge on her 21st birthday. awful.

Wasn't this Spinale guy in the news for something a while back?

is an old Roslindale name. I'm pretty sure Mike was the one 86'd from every bar in town and would spend his time at Tahiti.

That's horrible! I hope that guy who was OUI and killed the taxi cab passenger gets his license suspended and goes to jail...for a long time.

I think this is an unfortunate situation for all parties involved and people should be more sensitive to the fact that there was an injury and/or fatality. That said everyone needs to relax and keep in mind that everything mentioned In the article are ALLEGED charges. For those that don't understand how the law works (not the media)...you are innocent until proven guilty. Unless I missed something I don't believe this case has gone to trial and the commonwealth has yet to provide any proof that backs up thier ALLEGED charges.
