Rubber baby buggy catchers at Downtown Crossing

Rubber mat stretched to catch water in Downtown Crossing MBTA station

Who'll stop the rain? Not the creaky infrastructure at the Downtown Crossing T stop. Mark Novak captured some T worker's ingenious solution for stopping the water plotzing on people's head in a stairway between the Red and Orange Lines. Hopefully, somebody remembers to empty it before it gives way, though.

They should add a beer funnel with a hose in the center of the tarp to lead directly into the bucket. :)

Target in Watertown had a contraption like that on their ceiling. Tarp with a hose hook up in the middle and then a hose running down to a bucket

In all fairness, you really have to expect leaks like this, after the months of constant, torrential rain we've been having.

I almost plotzed when I saw how the word was used.

Have a member of our government who's fought paying for transportation improvements to sit in the bucket, and people can buy for $10 a 10-minute window; when the blanket gives way and soaks the Legislator, the winner gets their $10 back

Charlie has refused to condemn Trump for most anything yet, so maybe we're supposed to wait and see on this one too

The last thing I remember hearing was that Charlie was not going to vote for anyone for President. I dont know if he followed through on that cowardly act. And so far, as you said, he hasn't said a word in condemnation of Trump. So as far as I am concerned, to paraphrase ACT-UP, Silence=Trump.

Charlie has a Golden Ticket to the inauguration!

for the T so we don't have to put up with crap like this at one of the busiest stations on the entire system?

Sorry, Charlie?

Looks like the ending to the saddest Rube Goldberg machine ever devised.

The T itself is metaphorically, a sad Rube Goldberg machine...

The other photo in the tweet shows that there's a hole in the tarp to allow water to drain into the orange barrel. </pedantic>

When I saw Mark post this morning.. I put on my Facebook that it looks like a sex sling

(if you have to ask what that is, you don't wanna know)

I guess it is sort of a symbolic sex sling. We all take turns.

Swirly, I didn't even think about that..

This leak has been there for years. Close to, or maybe even more than, 20 years. I was a senior in HS and they had similar contraption set up, or if not, a shallow puddle on floor or a drip on the head every once in a while.

Whenever I'm waiting for a train and see the stalactites and crumbling walls I wonder if the station and tunnels are going to collapse and kill me. Could this actually happen? Is this fear valid or stupid?

When it comes to public transportation, the city needs to do what it takes to keep people safe and dry! Although, one can’t help but wonder how long it will be until a permanent fix is achieved.
