Owl hit by car in O'Neill Tunnel

Owl in the O'Neill Tunnel

Updated.

A snowy owl that somehow got into the O'Neill Tunnel fared little better than Larry the Turkey: Mass. Environmental Police report the bird was scooped up near the Government Center exit yesterday and rushed to the Tufts wildlife clinic in Grafton for treatment. The Globe reports the bird died.

I don't want to sound like I'm victim-blaming, but what the hell is a snowy owl doing out on a 70 degree day?

I know, I was originally going to ask why the hell they are in MA, but googling found out why (though they're still rare).

Where do you expect them to be? They've got to get out and eat rodents, too. You do realize they live here, right?

I didn't drive yesterday, but I assume that the tunnel didn't heat up and was thus an attractive refuge.

I don't think you're funny. There are many of us who actually give a damn about other species. If you took the time to actually learn something about owls you might be surprised at how amazing they are, and that we are so fortunate as to have them migrate through the city of Boston is something to be appreciate.

JFC. I have a perpetual monthly donation to the Sierra Club, which is an odd thing for someone who doesn't "actually give a damn about other species".

When was your sense of humor removed and replaced with another bile duct and/or CPU from an unfunny 1960s robot?

Year-round too. Sad ending for a beautiful, amazing creature. With all the rats, we desperately need these hunters and to ban poison use.
