Some epic space clearing was going on in JP this morning

Spiff marveled at the amount of work that must've gone into clearing this space on Boylston Street in Jamaica Plain this morning.

Space Savers Lives Matter
The struggle is real. This person had to get into their car, start it, and pull out of the space to keep the dream alive.

I watched some moron block traffic on Cornell Street this morning by parking in the middle of the street so they could walk back and drag a trash barrel into the space they "cleared out"

Even though the snow is already gone, who is going to risk parking there today to risk getting their tires slashed? This city needs to outlaw space savers.

Think about what you are asking for. The BTD does not even enforce the resident parking law, how are they going to keep people from putting out space savers?

and/or shoveling out a parking space. It's all about the lack of parking in the city and the failure of the city to do anything about it. As long as developers are allowed to build housing units, and for test matter, any commercial developments without parking this will continue.

No, as density increases, space savers disappear. When you have apartment buildings, people from all over are always trading parking spaces, so it would be ridiculous to pretend you own the space in front of your house.

All the vehicles parked on the street near apartment buildings stay there all winter without moving. Their owners jump on crowded buses to go to work. These entitled people think it's ok to take up street parking by leaving their vehicles on public ways. I can't wait for street cleaning so at least they'll move every other week.

Ok, I'm glad you've done an extensive survey of who takes the bus and who drives to work based on what type of building they live in, and aren't just making stuff up. You have a bright future as an urban planning consultant.
And I'm sure everyone would agree with you that people who commute on public transit, and use their cars for the occasional trip where they really need it, are somehow worse people than those who drive all the time.

Have you and a friend park on either side of the barrels, six inches away from each. Or if you don’t have a car, see if two friends would do it. Or if you’re Kinopio, hope that two people with cars do it.
Then, the guy will have to “shovel out” a new space.
