Thai scores in Roslindale

After a hiatus of several years, Roslindale has a Thai restaurant again - Tasty Thai, which opened today at 153 Belgrade Ave., where 7 Star Street Bistro used to be.

Of course, ye ed. rushed over at lunchtime - and got some chicken massaman curry, the dish by which Thais restaurants are judged (well, in this household, at any rate). It was very, very good, so go down there and eat some Thai food. They have an extensive menu (including bacon spicy pad Thai - but only on Mondays).

Hours are Weds-Fri., 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Sat.-Tues., 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Delivery is available - 617-327-2378. One caveat: They don't accept credit cards yet.

Are you planning on reviewing the new Target on Sunday?

It's like a regular Target, only smaller!

between food, clothes, household, pharmacy, etc...?

I think they should be made to only offer things which are 1/4 the size of what is offered at a full size Target but appreciate that might not be cost effective.

I haven't actually been there (only seen they have a ton of hangers for sale, as I went by in a 34 bus), but at a community meeting a few months ago, they said they would be sort of like a regular Target but with less selection - and with an emphasis on stuff the sort of people who live in Roslindale would need (so I guess there was a pressing need for hangers here?). Less food and a smaller CVS than usual, and no Starbucks (although that's more a function of that being written into the lease by the landlord, who owns the Dunk's next door).

I heard a local at a different establishment in the square confidently stated the Target would 'put the Village Market out of business' which seems overly pessimistic unless this place is going in heavy on the groceries. Then again, what % of Village Market business is lottery and cigarettes? A fair amount I'd say.

They do not accept credit cards?!
There are so many alternatives these days without all the hardware of the past.
How about Apple Pay?

It was just a brief thing, not uncommon with newly opened restaurants, and you can now break out your MasterCard (although there is still Golden House, a Chinese takeout place on Washington Street, that has never accepted them).

Thanks for sharing that they opened; ordered some take out last night and was very happy with the food. I hope business treats them well and they can stick around.
