And the hub of Massachusetts is: Natick!

To be exact, 32 Windsor Ave., on the shores of scenic Dug Pond, according to the US Census Bureau's 2010 Census Centers of Population by State .

And yes, of course the Census Bureau figures out the center of gravity for each state's population.

Tip o' the enumerator's cap to Kurt Hemr for finding this.

As witnesses continued to admonish the suspect for his activities, he eventually became physically assaultive and aimed spray paint in the direction of the witnesses which in turn lead to a physical encounter leading to the suspect being restrained.

Adam M. Brandon, 30, of Brighton, was charged with malicious destruction of property.

Another restaurant told to shut down after ISD fails to tell owner she needs a food-serving license

The Boston Licensing Board today ordered a new Roxbury restaurant to close immediately because it doesn't have a food-serving license.

The owner of Eddy's Restaurant, 2253 Washington St., told the board today that she went to Inspectional Services at 1010 Massachusetts Ave. and was told all she needed to open were permits from ISD and a health inspector. Through her daughter, acting as an interpreter, she said somebody there told her she didn't need a common victualer's license because her restaurant was too small for one.

"Although 1010 Mass. Ave. may have told your mother she doesn't need one, they're wrong," board Chairwoman Nicole Murati Ferrer told her, adding that until she went before a neighborhood civic group and then the licensing board, she had to close up.

This is the third time in a month Ferrer has told restaurants they had to shut immediately because they made the mistake of listening to ISD. Last month, restaurants in Allston and Roxbury had to shut, although in their cases it was just for a day.

Police Det. Eric Eversley said he visited Eddy's twice, in February and March, and both times told workers they needed a license. The first time, he warned them; the second time, he issued a citation, which is what led to today's hearing.

"This is a criminal offense, so criminal charges can be brought against you," Ferrer warned.

Suburban couple's night out on the town ends with husband unconscious on bar floor and blood everywhere

That much Edward and Marjan Zaun and the Sidebar on Bromfield Street could agree on, at a Boston Licensing Board hearing today.

Where they differ is why police summoned to the scene simply drove away rather than go in the bar to find out why Edward Zaun was lapsing in and out of consciousness as blood poured out of his split lip.

Boston confirms five new measles cases in city over past week

The Boston Public Health Commission says one of the five victims worked at South Station while contagious.

The commission says it hasn't found a link so far between the five cases, one involving a Boston resident, the other four among people who either work here, visited here or sought medical treatment for symptoms here. Their ages range between 16 months and 65 years.

Measles is highly contagious and spread through the air. People who have gotten two MMR shots or have had a blood test confirming their immunity do not have to worry, the commission says; everybody else should either consider a shot and monitor themselves for symptoms, which can include a high fever, runny nose, cough and red, watery eyes, followed two to four days later by the classic red rash that starts on the face and then spreads across the body.

Police make weighty arrest outside Shawmut T stop

BeechMBTA Transit Police report arresting a man they say used a dolly to try to steal a 441-pound bomb-resistant trash barrel from the Shawmut stop on the Red Line.

Officers found Patrick Beech, 23, wheeling the "bomb-mitigation barrel" down Hancock Street on a hand truck, covered with a blanket, according to a police report. The large silver cylinder is designed to resist the impact of any explosions from devices tossed in it. The police report includes this narrative:

He stated that he found the barrel "on the side of the road." Beech stated he had "seen a special on television and that the barrels did not work, so he decided to take it anyway." We asked where he was going with the barrel and Beech stated that "he was on the way to a warehouse."

Police say a customer-service agent at the station was alerted to the heavy theft by a nearby resident who had been walking her dog when she saw Patrick, who "seemed to be struggling with the weight of [the barrel] as he moved down the street."

The Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports Beech failed to show up at his arraignment in Dorchester District Court today and that a warrant was issued to let police bag him.

Innocent, etc.

Who'll dole out refunds on May 22?Who'll dole out refunds on May 22?

The MBTA, which originally said it was removing those end-of-world ads because of a complaint tweet from Greg Arney, now says it's removing the ads because they were only paid up through the end of the world May. However, the T adds:
