How has Boston survived for so long without burger places with two drive-through lanes?

Boston Restaurant Talk reports that Checkers, a take-out-only burger place that lets drivers order on either side of the building, is eying Boston for expansion.

Ed. note: The rebuild Hyde Park McDonald's has two drive-through lanes, but they're both on the same side of the building.

Latest dispatch from the JP grocery wars: Could the neighborhood soon have too many stores catering to Latinos?

The Jamaica Plain Gazette reports from the front: The Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corp. is thinking of renting space on Centre Street to a Latino-focused market - that could employ 50 people - but the city-sponsored Hyde/Jackson Square Main Street program says that with ten bodegas already in the area, one of the last things the neighborhood might need is another bodega.

The Gazette also recalls the last time a large grocery chain set up shop on Centre Street.

Why the T needs to get cracking on the Green Line extension: $760 million in federal funds could be at stake

Paul McMorrow explains the rock and the hard place: On the one hand, the T is legally required to extend the Green Line to Somerville and Medford, at a cost now approaching $1 billion. On the other hand, shaky finances and any construction delays could jeopardize $760 million in federal funding for the project, leaving the state to figure out how to make up the difference.
