Few auto-parts stores are open at 3 in the morning around here

Boston Police report the arrest of a pair of teens they spotted pushing a scooter at Warren and Wyoming streets around 3:25 this morning.

Police say the two told officers the scooter's battery was dead and they were pushing it to a nearby Auto Zone (which actually closes at 9). The officers proved skeptical: The two had no proof they owned the scooter, had no key and appeared nervous and there was what seemed to be fresh damage to the scooter's ignition. Also, they were walking away from the Auto Zone, and a bulge in one guy's clothes turned out to be a knife and screwdriver, police say.

Shawn T. Hussey, 19 of Roxbury and Samuel D. Milton, 19 of Newton were arrested and charged with receiving a stolen vehicle and possession of burglarious tools.

Innocent, etc.

Movie based on Massachusetts story filmed in British Columbia

Hollywood East Connection fills us in on Charlie St. Cloud, which is set in Marblehead, and which has the Red Sox as a key plot element - and which was filmed in Canada's Pacific Northwest because it was cheaper:

... While the screenplay was not changed the reflect the new location, locals who see the film will be able to tell you unequivocally, that Vancouver looks nothing like Marblehead. ...

Liberal lamentation over the sailing yacht

Boston Skeptic writes:

... What Kerry doesn't realize is that most people have marriages, lives and budgets and work hard every day to make ends meet. Most people don't own several million dollar recreational items apart from their spouse or spend time around the dinner table holding shareholder meetings to discuss the use and maintenance of family assets. Watching Kerry handle this situation like a jackass is fun, but it makes me feel bad for America. Even though we voted convincingly not to have him as our president, the people in my state continue employ him as our voice in important decisions.

That John Kerry remains a powerful force in American government is a frightening prospect. Fortunately for us he'll never get out of his own way long enough to do any real damage. Anchors aweigh!

One-stop shopping in Dudley Square

Iseut reports:

Overheard in Dudley Square this sultry summer evening: "Got rock. Got weed". The sales pitch was tendered outside of the always bustling Giant Liquors on Washington Street. A six-pack of Natural Ice and your preferred illegal smoke all in one quick errand. Would you prefer cocaine or marijuana with that bottle of Heineken? ...
