Wicked Local Brookline reports on an incident April 10 on University Road:

... When the four men refused to let Martin go free, Martin pulled a folding knife and flipped open the blade, police reported.

That's when three of the men tacked Martin and forced the knife from his hand, while the fourth man called 911. ...

Marauding coyote munching on pets along Rte. 9 in Brookline

John Bassett of the Brookline Neighborhood Alliance sent out e-mail tonight alerting residents:

There have been sightings in the Walnut St - High St. neighborhood in Precinct 5 and one witnessed killing of a cat there. A number of other pets are missing in that area. There has also been one seen near the High School.

Judge tells health insurers they can't raise their rates for small businesses just yet

Adding transportation to housing costs

The Boston Regional Challenge takes a look at transportation costs as a cost-of-living factor; basically concludes the farther out you live, the more you pay for transportation (darn cars). The site includes the complete report and a calculator into which you can type in your address and get basic figures (and then you can change some of the assumptions to more closely model your actual costs).
