Pothole Reporting Competition

There's an awesome website called SeeClickFix that I blogged about over at WestwoodBlog. It allows citizens to report potholes and other problems so the city can fix them. It's full of reports of potholes and general complaints about road conditions. It would be great if the "fixers" were watching it, but it appears they aren't.

Redistricting Massachusetts

Lance reports there's an app that lets you play Tommy Finneran and redistrict the state. So starting with the assumption we'll lose one of our ten congressional seats, Lance drew up some possible reconfigurations. Probably the weirdest one would have one district that includes both the Cape and part of Boston.

Masked man robs woman of $10,000 in cash in Newmarket Square

District C-6 reports a woman walking from Victoria's Diner to a nearby Citizens Bank to make a deposit Monday afternoon was held up by a man in a black face mask who told her "I have a gun. Let's go for a walk."

The suspect is described as a black Hispanic male, 5'11" to 6', who also wore a black jacket and dark pants. After taking the woman's red tote bag with the cash around 4 p.m., he ran down Mass. Ave. toward Columbia Road, police said.

Police: Quincy man shows up in Hyde Park and mugs, punches woman at commuter-rail stop

Boston Police report a woman waiting for a train at the Hyde Park commuter-rail stop in Cleary Square yesterday afternoon was mugged at knifepoint by a man who got annoyed when she had no money so he grabbed her and punched her in the face.

Police say her screams attracted officers patrolling the area, who saw a guy running away from the station. He refused to stop for officers, so they chased him, caught him and brought him to E-13 a block or so away.

KennedySeat.com morphs into broader Mass. political site

Had lunch today with Conor Yunits, the no-longer anonymous writer behind KennedySeat.com (see, I do get out of the mountain fastness from time to time!). Just yesterday, he launched MassBeacon.com, where he hopes to provide the same extensive coverage for all of the contested elections this fall. He'll be a busy man.

Also see Foxed's Lovers, Muggers and Thieves, which is doing daily roundups and John Keith's MassIndependents.com.
