Judge warned city a year ago about its e-mail deletin' ways

The Globe keeps on top of the story. The judge's comments came in a ruling related to the controversial Roxbury mosque, built on land originally owned by the BRA.

Outraged Liberal: Wow, is this what it's like to watch a car crash in slow motion?

... For a group seemingly skilled in fixing problems, the daily drips of information about the Menino administration's failure to understand, let alone follow the state's public records law is mind-boggling. ...

WBUR interviews a computer-security guy on what's involved in retrieving "deleted" e-mail.

Oh, to be a bicyclist in New York

With its wide avenues and actual, dedicated bike lanes. Mike Ball returns from a trip there and is amazed at what you can do with real streets - but also what a little enforcement might do on our non-cow paths:

... I think of the new, narrow bike lanes painted for a short distance on Columbus Avenue here. Eleven days ago, I took it both ways. In that short distance, I counted 22 motor vehicles blocking the lane, 9 one way and 13 back. Of course, there was no enforcement. Bikes had to take the single lane in either direction from cars and trucks to move instead. ...

Sean Roche, meanwhile, is loving the new bike lanes along Beacon Street from Cleveland Circle to the Newton line, but no liking how the just disappear at the line.

It's not enough that Providence has Del's and clam cakes

Of all the KFCs in the world, only the ones in Providence and Omaha, Neb. are serving "Double Down" sandwiches, which consist of bacon, two kinds of cheese and a special liquified saturated-fat sauce sandwiched between, no, not two halves of a bun, but two deep-fried chicken patties:

... God clearly did not mean for humans to eat chicken, bacon, and low-quality, gelatinous cheese at the same time. I was suddenly struck with a strange urge to keep kosher. Each bite became a grueling endurance test, as the cheese and grease began to override the chicken breasts, and the sandwich grew more revolting-looking with each bite. ...

Bracing for Asian Longhorned Beetles in Boston

The state Department of Agricultural Resources is going to be training volunteers in the Public Garden on Thursday to help look for signs of the dreaded tree-killing beetle in the Boston area. So far as state officials know, the bugs are still just in greater Worcester, but they want to start looking just in case.

Jennifer Forman Orth, who's leading the training (12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.), reports volunteers will get a free "Ask Me About ALB" t-shirt.
