... They're so tiny and vulnerable now, but in two months time, if the gods are willing and the weather auspicious, if the rabbits desist and the pests forbear, these plants will be towering overhead, angular ears protruding, tassles whispering in the wind. A miracle.

Revere city councilors probably get combat pay

The Globe reports one councilor wound up in the hospital after the city public works superintendent tried to push him through a glass door during a fight - at a wake.

Sam Baltrusis reports casting call today until 8:30 p.m. for extras in Ben Affleck's upcoming townie hoods movie, "The Town." They're looking for all types of characters - from bad guys to mothers - who have wicked good Boston accents.

Coerced sex at MBTA police academy?

The Globe reports the FBI is investigating whether female cadets at the T's academy in Quincy "were coerced into having sex with superior officers."

The academy trains new officers for both the MBTA Transit Police and a number of suburban police forces.

Teen punks causing trouble on Beacon Hill

Ross Levanto reports on meeting tonight between the Beacon Hill Civic Association, the police and City Councilor Mike Ross about crime in the neighborhood.

Among the issues: Police say the Most Violent Prophet gang of high-school toughs may be moving out of Downtown Crossing and onto Beacon Hill, which might explain a number of recent robberies. He adds that many of those robberies involve iPhone and Sidekick snatchings from people walking down the street talking on them.
