Smashed car on Beacon Street at Exeter in the Back Bay

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Beacon Street at Exeter, Stanley Staco reports. The driver got out, jumped into a BMW X5 that sped off towards Storrow Drive.

WBZ reports the driver was drag racing another vehicle when he jumped the curb and hit the pedestrian. Read more.

UPDATE: The T announced the resumption of service at 4:50 p.m.

An inbound D train derailed between Hynes and Copley Square. Brian Campbell reports a friend called to say she's now covered in soot after something began burning and passengers had to walk through the tunnel to Copley:

She was on an inbound train and evacuated in the tunnel between Hynes and Copley, they exited at Copley.

The T is now running buses instead of trolleys between Park Street and Kenmore Square.

Two buses, two cars in Huntington Avenue crash

Matthew shows us the "horrific multi-car, multi-bus accident" on Huntington Avenue in front of the Star Market and the Marriott around 8.15 p.m.

WFXT reports the charter bus hit several cars before crashing into the MBTA bus. Injuries, but all minor.

Rainbow over Boston Harbor

Neil was among those who enjoyed the rainbow (or in some cases, rainbows) after the rain squall that moved through around 4:45 p.m. - heralding the polar front that sets us up for Sunday's nor'easter. He had a front-row seat overlooking the Boston Fish Pier and the harbor.

A Green Line trolley simply had too much to drink on St. Patrick's Day and passed out at Copley Square outbound. At 5:35 p.m., Kelsea Hanks reported:

Don't try to go outbound anywhere on the MBTA Green Line. Nothing has moved past Copley in over 30 min.

Brian D'Amico reports bursts of wind shortly before 5 p.m. helped capsize a number of sailboats near the Mass. Ave. Bridge. All the dunked people were fished out of the river by first responders.

Along the Esplanade around 12:30 p.m. near the Hatch Shell.

The Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports:

Preliminary evidence including clothing and other factors suggests that the body is not that of a young man from Harvard, MA, previously reported missing. Identification efforts are under way and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of his death.

Searching the Charles River

Tim watched some of the first responders searching the Charles around 4:30 p.m. Nick Gillham reported they were looking for somebody who might have jumped. Traffic was backed up in both directions.
