Spring volleyball at Carson Beach in South Boston

Across the city today, winter-weary Bostonians shed their coats, or, at least, unzipped them a bit as they marveled at temperatures that approached 60.

On Carson Beach in South Boston, Eileen Murphy watched a game of volleyball (a brisk wind aided the windsurfers in Pleasure Bay).

In the Public Garden, as 617 Images shows us, a couple actually had a picnic:

There was a larger version of this memorial around (I've only seen it in photos) as well as this smaller version which is or was usually out on Boylston St. Does anyone know who takes care of it--I understand that it's taken in at night. It hasn't been around in a while.

WBUR explains what happens after yesterday's verdict in the Tsarnaev case.

Kevin Cullen wonders:

Do we, or in this case the jurors acting as our surrogates, serve justice and honor the memory of Tsarnaev’s victims more by killing him or by putting him in prison for the rest of his sorry life?

By adamg - 4/8/15 - 2:13 pm

On all 30 counts. Adam Reilly is livetweeting the Tsarnaev verdict.

Pikachu in Boston's Prudential Center

The kidlet and I made our annual trek to the Pru to check out the costumes for Anime Boston. As always, it didn't disappoint, except for maybe the fact there were no Tron characters.

Thousands of costumed con goers flitted through both the Hynes and the Pru, where they mixed with bemused tourists and a few little kids, who found themselves watching an impromptu parade.

The prosecution rested yesterday after its final witness against Dzokhar Tsarnaev, a medical examiner, detailed what happened to Martin Richard. Now Tsarnaev's lawyers try to save his life by building a case that he was just a little puppy dog following his brother's lead.

Space for lease in the BPL main library in Copley Square

J. Patience was startled by the retail-lease sign on the side of the new wing of the under-renovation BPL main library in Copley Square.

Earlier this month, BPL trustees issued an RFP for companies interested in leasing the space, at the corner of Boylston and Exeter in the under-renovation Johnson wing.

Seems a trolley breathed its last around 8:30 a.m. near Park Street and gummed everything up. Caitlin Drown reports:

It's taken almost 20 mins going from Hynes to just past Arlington.
