Last night, Sara noticed a couch sitting at the corner of Anderson and Phillips streets on Beacon Hill. This morning, she reports, the couch was still out - but across the street.

The Back Bay Sun has added a reporter, changed its name to the Boston Sun and expanded into the South End and Fenway, neighborhoods, which lost a source of local news when the Boston Courant ended its press run earlier this month.

The paper is owned by the Independent Newspaper Group of Revere, which publishes weekly papers from Lynn to Jamaica Plain, including the Beacon Hill Times.

Longfellow Phase 3 Bike Traffic

Neighbors heard a loud crash in the wee of the night (1am 2/11/16) on Codman Island, the toney piece of real estate separating Charles Street. Civic-minded Beacon Hillers picked up the remnants of an Audi's front end (including engine parts). Yet there's no police report and worse yet, no one who will own up to the damage and cover the costs to restore Codman Island to its natural manmade state. The car had to have been towed.

Rabbit on Commonwealth Avenue in the Back Bay

Deborah Elizabeth Finn reports spotting an urban bun in the tiny front yard of a home on Commonwealth Avenue between Hereford and Mass. Ave. today.

ABC Haskins, meanwhile, spotted a rabbit right outside 1 Ashburton Place today.

$3,000 reward for information on whereabouts of Dr. George Parkman

The Massachusetts Historical Society is celebrating its 225th anniversary this year with, among other things, an online exhibit of 225 items from its collections, from colonial days to the Revolution and Civil War. Don't click on the link unless you have some time to spare!

Among the items: This poster seeking information on the whereabouts of prominent local physician George Parkman - he donated land for Harvard Medical School (we know the site today as the home of Mass. General Hospital), and, yes, the Parkman House on Beacon Hill was his home. Read more.

Stuck buses on Cambridge Street in Boston

First responders from both Cambridge and Boston and divers from Boston rushed to the Charles River near the Longfellow Bridge around 6:30 p.m. on what appeared to be a report that two people might be in the river. Read more.

Fire on Revere Street on Beacon Hill

The Boston Fire Department reports smoke from a fire in an apartment building at 80 Revere St. Wednesday night killed two dogs. A third dog was rescued.

The fire, reported around 8 p.m. in a second-floor kitchen of the five-story, ten-unit building, did an estimated $60,000 in damage, the department says. No people were injured.

Boston Magazine reports Bryon Hefner is registered to vote in Amherst, which is just a bit out of the 1st Suffolk and Middlesex state-senate district he said yesterday he might like to try his hand at representing. Legally, at least, that's not a problem - as long as he changes his registration to his Beacon Hill home before the election.
