Editor Matthew Gannon announces the mothership is shutting the site down:

There's no clever way to say it: This is the last word from Bostonist. Last week, Gothamist informed me that Bostonist will be going on hiatus and the blog will be shut down. At least we outlasted the 2011 Red Sox.

But not just any real-estate blog: New York's Curbed.com is hoping to set up a pied-a-terre in our little town.

This is either an early taste, or an applicant's effort to convince the moguls he's worthy of their attention for the editor's job (they're looking for somebody who has "mainlined into the soul of their city's real estate and neighborhoods universe").

There was just an earthquake in Virginia. According to the USGS it was a magnitude 5.8 earthquake. We felt in my office and I saw all the monitors on peoples' desk shaking.

A couple of Staties visited David Portnoy of Barstool Sports and suggested it might be best for all concerned if he took down the nekkid photos of the Brady kid, if you know what they mean, and they think you do, so he did. At least, for today.

CNN interviews Martini Severin (is that today's best name or what?) about just how wrong GQ is about local stylistas, gets an answer to the pressing question: "How do residents remain sartorial in the winter?"

Common Cause Massachusetts is hosting a Redistricting Olympics this summer. We will be taking citizen drawn Congressional, State House, and State Senate maps all summer, evaluating them, declaring a winner, giving out prizes and submitting the winning maps to the MA Legislative Redistricting Committee for consideration.

The purpose of the redistricting Olympics is threefold: to educate the public about the steps in the redistricting process, to initiate public participation in the political arena, and to pressure the legislature to draw the districts so that the citizens are appropriately represented.

Dan Kennedy reports on a motion by Norfolk County DA Michael Morrissey to keep OpenCourt from archiving its Webcasts.

Morrissey says archives of court proceedings on the new pilot system in Quincy District Court, could prove a boon to gang members and others with evil intent. OpenCourt notes it spent several months before going live working with Quincy court officials and the DA's office, but has agreed to stop letting people look up past Webcasts at least for the next week or so.

Steve Selnick has a severe allergy to peanuts. He's chronicling his experiences eating out on Peanut Free: Boston:

Knowing that my meal officially wasn't happening (cross contamination is one of the scariest things to me) the manager put the icing on the cake. He said that if I had an allergy so bad that I would have anaphylaxis (which I would) that I shouldn't be eating out ... at all.

So with this friendly display of allergy ignorance, I can't advise anyone with a peanut allergy to come anywhere close to P.F. Chang's.

Is a newish group in the Boston area for bloggers of color. They're holding a meetup tomorrow at the wonderfully named Microsoft NERD Center, between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. It'll be one of those rare chances to see me outside of my natural habitat (i.e., slouched over a dining-room table in the remotest part of Roslindale), since I'll be the guest speaker.
