A Boston firefighter who was a regular at a Faneuil Hall bar slammed a Connecticut man to the ground outside, possibly leaving him with limited mobility for the rest of his life, even though neither knew the other - or had anything to do with some scuffling that had occurred both in and just outside the bar not long before, police, bar workers and the man and his family told the Boston Licensing Board today. A man who says he was just chilling one night at Cavan Cafe, 1406 Hyde Park Ave. in Hyde Park, when an entire family lined up, rushed him and beat him up, leaving him with two broken eye sockets and two broken ribs on Oct. 1, police, the Cavan's bartender and the victim himself told the Boston Licensing Board this morning. Diustin Cruz, the owner of La Parrilla, 299 Hancock St. in Dorchester, didn't appear at a licensing hearing today on a triple shooting early on Oct. 30 in what police say was an illegal after-hours club, where customers could order an entire bottle of liquor or take puffs on a hookah until the sun came up. The Boston Licensing Board last week approved a proposal by the owners of the closed Brasserie, 560 Harrison Ave. in the South End, to re-open the place under the management of Loic Le Garrec, of Petit Robert Bistro, and under the new name of Marseille. At a hearing last week, Brasserie's attorney said the restaurant would re-open as a brasserie, but with Le Garrec's own flair.

The Boston Licensing Board last week approved plans by Alamo Drafthouse Cinema to purchase the liquor license of the closed Canary Square in Jamaica Plain for the ten-screen movie complex it wants to open at 60 Seaport Blvd. - the fourth time in four years that a Seaport chain has taken a liquor license out of JP.
