A.P. Blake reports on an incident at Market and Mapleton streets in Brighton this morning. He rolled up his window, called 911 and waited until a uniformed officer arrived.

Boston College says it's doing its part to minimize the impact of students in the 17-story apartment building it bought on Comm. Ave. in part by installing locks that will keep students from opening windows more than six inches - and which will make apartment balconies completely off limits to them.

UPDATE: Around 3:35 p.m., Boston Police broke up what appeared to be a brewing altercation related to the earlier incident at Comm. Ave. and Warren - where they also stopped a Green Line trolley in search of somebody on the train. Police arrested several teens.

School Police today detained a student at the Boston Green Academy, 20 Warren St., after they found him with a gun around 2:20 p.m. The school was put in safe mode until Boston Police arrived to take custody of both him and the gun.

Police requested two ambulances, one for somebody with a dislocated knee, one for an officer who was bitten.

Proposed building at 5 Washington St. in Brighton

A developer has filed plans with the BRA to replace a gas station and small office building at 5 Washington St., across from the Whole Foods and next to the Brookline line, with a 145-unit, six-story residential building.

Boston Development, which won BRA approval in June to replace the old Cleveland Circle Cinema and the Applebee's with a hotel and an apartment complex, is bringing on a new development partner and plans to limit residents to the silver-haired set.

Wanted for Brighton breakin

Boston Police have some questions for these two guys about a housebreak on Lake Street near Glenmont Road in Brighton shortly after 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police say a homeowner was taking a shower while a man broke into the house and stole $6,500 worth of electronics, including an iPhone that these two guys were later spotted trying to sell on Geneva Avenue in Dorchester.

Flipped van in Brighton

A minivan rolled down an inclined driveway on Englewood Avenue in Brighton this morning, flipping on its side on the street and trapping its driver inside, the Boston Fire Department reports.

The department says firefighters arrived around 6:15 a.m. to find the man trapped, his leg outside the minivan. Firefighters were able to extricate him with the help of Jaws of Life and hand him over to EMS for evaluation and transport to a local hospital.

The BRA yesterday approved a proposed 101-apartment development on Commonwealth Avenue that would consist mostly of "affordable" units with just 20 rented at market rates.

The building would sit on land owned by the Brighton Marine Health Center at Warren Street.
