Brookline crime
By adamg - 4/3/07 - 11:29 pmBrookline Police now have a crime blog, just like Boston's, only with a lot less violent crime:
... [T]he suspect was seen removing money from the coin boxes of certain USA Today newspaper machines. The amount of $4.75 in quarters and $0.75 in nickels and dimes was recovered from the suspect ...
Masked gunman nabbed
By adamg - 12/7/06 - 6:45 pmBoston Police report they and Brookline Police have arrested a guy in connection with a string of armed store holdups across the city and Brookline.
Lee Hines, 40, of West Roxbury, was nabbed yesterday in the parking lot of the West Roxbury VA hospital, after he spotted the cops closing in on his home at 77 Keystone St. According to police, while Hines did roam, he seemed to prefer heists in the 'hood - several stores on Spring Street, an easy walk from his home, had been hit since September.

JP is no Matrix
By adamg - 10/24/06 - 11:55 pmWhen residents spotted some guy with a gun on the roof of 30 Jamaicaway, they called police. Police found six people, armed with what turned out to be replica semi-automatic weapons and handguns.
They claimed to have permission to film a movie on the roof; police say the suburban sextet, however, could not provide the names of anybody who had actually given them permission. They face disturbing-the-peace charges; the Globe reports the ringleader now faces an incomplete in a class at the New England Institute of Art.
According to an ad on NEFilm, here's what they were up to:
Student class assignment shoot of a scene from the matrix. Looking for casting for Neo, Trinity, an agent, and extras to play guards. Participants will be given food and a copy of the finished project.
Vlvtjones applies some smackdown:
... You dumb bastards. You have a bunch of people on a rooftop in camo and guns, pointing down to the street? You're on the J-way! You say you notified the Boston and Brookline police, but they have no record of the call. But what about posting a damn flyer in the surrounding office buildings saying you're shooting a student film, with someone's number to call for information? I know, you're only 21 years old, which means you haven't had that many college parties yet--but the cool thing to do (to not get the police called on your ass) is to talk to all the neighbors, tell them that it's going on, and have them call you if there's a problem. ...
