Transit Police report this guy stood next to somebody in a wheelchair on a Route 1 bus around 3 p.m. on March 23 as it approached Mass. Ave. and Sydney Street, grabbed stuff from the wheelchair, then ran out the door when the bus stopped.

He's described as Hispanic and about 5'4".

State officials report contractors will begin prepping the Longfellow Bridge on Saturday to remove the two remaining towers as part of the overall bridge reconstruction project.

Don't worry, seasoning fans: The state says, as with the other two towers - and unlike that decorative railing a few years back - the towers will be put into storage so they can be replaced once the bulk of the repairs to the bridge and the realignment of the traffic/bicycle/pedestrian lanes is finished.

I'm in a four day steel cage death match with Comcast over (lack of) service related to a failed cable-box, compounded by a Comcast-generated "reset" that's cratered the replacement, plus all attached satellite boxes in my house. I live in Cambridge.

I would dearly love to drop them like a bad habit, but need a replacement for internet and television, preferably bundled.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Angry parking note

Ted Dobbin reports spotting this note yesterday on the remains of a snow mound at 6th and Cambridge streets in East Cambridge. One can only hope it's been there awhile, because to think that it might have just shown up yesterday would be kind of depressing.

Globe Direct being delivered to a burned out house

Garrett Quinn forwards this photo showing that whoever delivers Globe Direct fireplace stuffers in East Cambridge isn't going to let the fact that a building caught on fire and got boarded up stop them from delivering the things every week.

H/t Kevin Franck for the headline.

Cambridge snow creature

Ari Ofsevit reports his neighbors on Pearl Street in Cambridge used roughly 1,000 Solo cups worth of dyed and frozen water to build this creature in February. With temperatures forecast in the 40s and even 50s next week, though, how much longer does it survive?
