Hawk trapped in Alewife station on the Red Line in Cambridge

Curt Nickisch phototographed this poor hawk unable to figure a way out of Alewife station around 7:30 p.m. The Animal Rescue League reports a happy ending to this tale:

Got word that the hawk was caught and moved outside.

Adult and child on the Charles River

Michele Connors watched an adult and child walk across the Charles this afternoon, reports they were met on the shore by police officers, who escorted them away.

Meanwhile, Greg Hum reports the water's just fine for biking on. He took this photo from his helmetcam near the BU Bridge this afternoon:

Cambridge Day summarizes what it knows about a wine bar that never opened and the local real-estate agent who now faces criminal charges of witness intimidation, forgery and, yes, uttering, for filing a petition against the bar on which he allegedly forged all the signatures.

The Cambridge DPW is putting parking-space hoarders on notice: Crews will begin removing their space savers starting Monday.

That's just like in Boston, except, unlike across the river, Cambridge doesn't condone space savers at all:

Anti-space-saver message in Brighton

Marty's minions will have a bit less to pick up in Brighton next week, thanks to a vigilante who's already busy removing space savers - and leaving behind notes explaining the situation - as Kricket Feeney shows us.

Somebody is also leaving notes on cars in Cambridge, Cyn Donnelly reports. Of course, being Cantabrigian, the vigilante had to explain in excruciating detail just what sort of villainous monsters people who lower themselves to saving spaces are, in the sort of manifesto that makes you wonder how he even managed to finish composing the note before smashing his keyboard to smithereens with his righteous, Cambridgey fists of fury.

An incredibly long note in Cambridge about how evil a space saver is

Cambridge Police say a local 17-year-old walked up to a man waiting for a bus on Cambridge Street around 9:30 p.m. yesterday, then stabbed him and ran towards the Lechmere T station.

The victim sustained two stab wounds to his lower back and buttocks area. He was later transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

I would like to know if anyone here knows whether noise ordinances apply to construction equipment when used for snow removal.

Cambridge ice bar

Not long after we heard about the Roslindale ice bar, Booze Epoque alerted us to this ice bar in Cambridgeport.

Any idea which bars in Boston or Cambridge geneticists frequent?

Cambridge water-main break near Kendall Square.

Note the marina dock savers on the left.

Chelsie Ouellette shows us the water-main break on Portland Street at Harvard Street in Cambridge, which she reports has been gushing since 7 a.m.

Bridgette Hylton wonders when it will be frozen enough for a skating party.

Central Square on the Red Line right now is just full of Cambridge firefighters bearing hoses. There's a hazmat truck on Mass. Ave. A train in the station was evacuated. The T is warning of moderate delays due to "Cambridge Fire Department activity."

Former Marine vows retribution on anybody who touches his van in Cambridge

Curt Nickisch spotted this note on a van in Cambridge today. You know, if only the note writer had used a smaller font, he could have included the rest of his feelings:

And I don't like nobody touchin' MY STUFF. Just keep your meathooks off. If I catch any of you guys in my stuff, I'll kill you.

A Belmont man convicted of his second OUI offense appealed, arguing his arrest was illegal because a trooper only showed up at his home based on the word of an anonymous 911 caller and that's just not good enough to warrant a potential arrest.

Around 6:30 p.m., snow slid off the roof of Simoni Rink at the Gore Street Park, hitting four people and burying one. WCVB reports two people were taken to the hospital.
