UPDATE: It's not even all that edgy. The Bukowski Tavern had the same idea a few years ago, only with a 40 of malt liquor in a bag.

The Herald interviews the general manager of a new Theater District bar that is trying to give Bostonians the "cosmopolitan and worldly" feel of New York, through drinks such as the "Hobo Experience:" Read more.

Stuck bird

Late this afternoon, a hawk got trapped in some netting towards the top of the Cutler Majestic Theatre. Robert Schepis photographed the poor bird shortly after 4:30 p.m.

A man who tried to wake up a guy seemingly passed out on a couch at Royale, 279 Tremont St. got a punch in the face for his efforts, police and bar managers told the Boston Licensing Board. Read more.

Managers at Guilt on Warrenton Street had to explain to the Boston Licensing Board today how a 19-year-old Harvard student wound up requiring an ambulance ride to the hospital for extreme ethanol poisoning on Dec. 1, while the owner of T's Pub on Commonwealth Avenue had to explain how a 19-year-old BU student managed to get a rum and ginger ale on Nov. 28. The Boston Licensing Board today continued a hearing on a violent incident at Candibar in the Theater District after an out-of-town patron and the club's owner, sitting next to each other, took turns calling each other a liar.

The board agreed to extend its hearing to let police, the man and the club round up more witnesses to try to shed more light on just what happened shortly after midnight on Oct. 9. Read more.

Boston Police report arresting Kiewann Watson, 28, of Mattapan, on charges he shot two men at closing time on Sunday, killing one of them, Michael Miranda of Dorchester.

Watson was arrested today on Norfolk Avenue, police say.

Boston Police are seeking videos and photos from a "a large fight" that erupted at closing time outside the Cure Lounge, 246 Tremont St. around 2 a.m. on Sunday.

The Boston Licensing Board today approved a deal with the owner of Icon and Venu on Warrenton Street to shut Icon for nearly a month and Venu for two weeks, partly as punishment for a string of incidents with pre-21 drinkers over the past year, partly to retrain and recertify their staff in how to recognize and bar underage would-be drinkers and how to better disperse crowds at closing time. The state Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission yesterday upheld a five-day suspension levied against Icon on Warrenton Street for serving four underage Tufts freshmen on an April, 2016 night that ended with one of them falling to his death from the Tufts Medical Center garage. Read more.

An unconscious man lying in a stairwell and an underage college student with fake Colombian IDs could prove the straw that breaks the camel's back for Bijou, 51 Stuart St., which had to make the case to the Boston Licensing Board that its 2 a.m. closing time not be rolled back. Read more.

Boston Police report officers who responded to a report of a fight at Bijou, 51 Stuart St., around 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, found a combatant that witnesses said had pulled out a gun during the disturbance. Read more.
