Marty Walsh and the CEO and board of Tufts Medical Center will eat lunch at Jade Garden on Tyler Street today and then stroll around the neighborhood to show it's a fine place to go and to send a message to cut the crap about COVID-19 already, that you're no more likely to contract the virus in Chinatown than anywhere else in Massachusetts, which is to say hardly likely at all. WBUR reports on a large community meal at China Pearl, organized by city councilors in both Boston and Quincy, to support Chinatown and show Covid-19 infeciton is no more likely there than anywhere else, which is to say, not likely. As opposed to the flu, the severity of which is now very high in Massachusetts.

City councilors Michelle Wu (at large) and Ed Flynn (Chinatown, South Boston, South End, Downtown) have organized a dim-sum lunch at China Pearl in Chinatown on Saturday in part to show there's no more risk of coronavirus infection in the neighborhood than anywhere else in the city. Read more.

Boston Restaurant Talk reports the Beach Street restaurant, which closed last fall, is open again, although with a bit of a different menu, and readers must understand how hard it is for the UHub staff not to try to turn this whole thing into a Jimmy Durante reference.

WBUR reports, notes something similar happened during the SARS scare in 2003 - at least until Mayor Tom Menino went on a walking tour of the neighborhood and didn't get SARS - that Chinatown is no more at risk from the new coronavirus strain than anywhere else and that you're far, far more likely to get the flu, which can also be fatal.

Police officers called to a fight at Tunnel on Stuart Street early one morning last October were frisking a suspect who might have slashed a man's forehead open when they discovered he'd apparently been stabbed himself. And then another disturbance erupted and by the time they quelled that, they found a third man outside dripping blood from fresh cuts to his hand and forearm. Read more.

The Boston Licensing Board yesterday approved the sale of Centerfolds on Lagrange Street - now half of Boston's Combat Zone - to a Texas-based, publicly traded ecdysiast chain. Read more.

A nearby resident reports being awoken by the sound of gunfire shortly after 3 a.m. Live Boston reports police found at least seven shell casings - and a partially loaded magazine - on Beach Street at Oxford Street.

One of the shiny new Orange Line trains went back into service this morning, its doors now all working and stuff, just in time for one of the old wheezing rec rooms to belch some smoke into the Tufts Medical Center station due to a "motor problem." The T turned on some fans to air the station out, but of course there are now delays on the line, of up to ten minutes.
