Steve Tompkins to face Criminal Magistrate on 9/10/13

BOSTON- Steven Tompkins will face a BMC Roxbury District Court Criminal Magistrate over Theft and Property Destruction on September 10, 2013.

Suffolk County Interim Sheriff Steven Tompkins of 106 Williams Street in Hyde Park will face a Criminal Magistrate over the theft and property destruction of rival Sheriff Candidate Douglas Bennett’s campaign signs in Egleston Square in Roxbury last Wednesday August 14, 2013 between 2-3PM.

According to Jean Jackson, the owner of La Paix barber shop at 1059 Hyde Park Avenue in Boston, he testifies how Suffolk County Interim Sheriff Steven Tompkins unlawfully pulled out his badge and demanded that the store owner remove Douglas Bennett for Sheriff's sign "because it was too early to put up campaign signs..."

In many of these thefts and destructions of personal property, Mr. Tompkins, along with another Commonwealth of Massachusetts employee from the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, proceeded in entering these store fronts and identifying himself as the Sheriff of Suffolk County, pulling out his “sheriff’s badge” and demanding that the store owner remove the sign or they would get “on his (Tompkins') bad side.”

Attached with this press release is:

1. The Notice of the Magistrate Hearing pertaining to BMC Roxbury District Court Criminal Complaint Docket #1302AC001538,

2. Boston Police Department Incident Report #130522530, and

3. A complaint from Bennett to the Massachusetts State Ethics Commission Enforcement Division asking to investigate Tompkins’ actions from August 14, 2013.

(****To update the story, at the September 10, 2013 hearing, it was made VERY CLEAR that this type of activity is ILLEGAL; yet Mr. Tompkins was stupid enough to be seen once again stealing Bennett's signs, this time Tompkins was caught trying to steal one of Bennett's billboards from the Used Car Lot at the intersection in Eggleston Square. State Ethics Commission Investigator Brian McWilliams is currently investigating Tompkins for abuse of power.****)

Douglas Bennett, who _wouldn't_ want your signs to disappear ASAP?

Here we are in a huge election year (I think w/ 12 candidates for mayor n 19 for City Council, plus CC district candidates here and there), and you post your own signs all over the city for an election A YEAR FROM NOW.

Disturbing.

... his badge on state time on tax payers' dollars intimidating store owners to remove the signs. That is disturbing. The issue is not between myself and him now, it is between Mr. Tompkins and the Criminal Magistrate.

They caught Tompkins on surveillance camera and eye witnesses reported this to WBZ yesterday.

Douglas Bennett, here are my two wishes in regard to two disturbing matters:

1. You and your signs go away for 9 months.
2. Your complaint vs. Tompkins leads to him going away until November 5, 2014 or later.

DB, who likes to threaten people on Uhub that he knows their name and "will see them on their front porch", has just told us his own home address by attaching the complaint. He also alleges that Tomkins called him a punk, something that Uhub readers will certainty agree with.

Dude,
It's been confirmed, but keep up your spin, I'm sure you'll get that promotion one day!
HACK!

Doug ( or Andrea, whatever) , what has been confirmed? That Doug is a punk? Well this Doug/Andrea posting does in fact confirm that Doug is a punk. Thank you. Next question?

Either Doug has really gone off the rails in his anon postings or here we have actual proof that a Doug Bennett supporter is just as crazy and paranoid as Doug is!

I know the poster is "Andrea", but it sounds like Doug, and it is a fact that Doug posts under different names, so I'm assuming it is fact Doug.

What is confirmed?
What promotion?
What spin?

For the record Doug, I posted the original post. I thought it was interesting that with your repeated attempts to identify posters names and phone numbers, and your threats to "see you on your front porch", that it took a special kind of courage or craziness to post the complaint that included your own address. I never worked in government, which I assume you assume because of the hack remark, and I am looking forward to the promotion from my current position as unemployed. Perhaps you could give me more details.

This is hilarious, coming from DB, the master of illegal placement of signs without permission. If the allegations against Tomkins are correct, he just earned my vote and I'm sure many others. I view the removal of DB signs as a necessary public service

Talking to a store owner? As far as I know, store cameras don't record audio, so I don't know what your pea brain thinks those cameras caught him doing. All Mr. Tompkins has to do is just a little research on your illustrious history of paranoia, false accusations and the general idiocy that pervades your every move and hopefully you'll be laughed out of court, the way the voters are going to laugh at you next November.

Of course all the Magistrate needs to see is the way you upvote your own comments seconds after you post them to know that you are an utter whack job who has no business in politics and especially in law enforcement.

And funny, I've yet to see anything about this on WBZ, maybe because they know you're a whack job also.

If it's true, I will definitely be contributing money to Mr. Tompkin's campaign for calling you out for being the punk ass bitch you are.

You posted this story twice yesterday and now again today? Are you really that much of an idiot? Do you really think in the 24 hour news cycle anyone will remember this come election time? And finally, in this town do you really think black people are going to vote for a pain in the ass white guy from Nantucket over another black guy?

I do think African-Americans, Caucasians, Asian-Americans, Native Americans, Latinos, and Men and Women of all creeds/races/gender/religeons/and sexualities will vote for me.

If I was Dan Farnkoff, I'd seriously be considering legal action against you, especially after the phone number publishing incident. Keep it up, I'm sure the Sheriff loves adding to the reams of evidence of your being mentally unbalanced available to all voters with an internet connection.

An as far as being out of line, you've lived in this town about what, 15 minutes? You want out of line, why don't you try spending some time with your kids?

Doug
It's religions not religeons. And for the love of God, please please, please stop with the hand painted oversize signs and remove the ones that are already out there.
Previous Uhub posters have accused you of being delusional and these signs all over Dorchester are proof. They might be appropriate for a 3rd grade student council election, but not for a real election.
Think real hard Doug. Will voters be more likely or less likely to vote for you if they see one of your large crappy signs?

I love the Bennett for Sheriff billboards. I live in Cedar Grove and I'm voting for Bennett for Sheriff. And these billboards are not only all over Dorchester, but I have seen them all over Suffolk County.

This is just sad. Doug, I really wish you would get some help. It's never advised to give up on your dreams, but maybe after some coaching and counseling you can try at something that is more realistic.

Please update us. What happened at the hearing?

No multiple tweets to local media, no BREAKING here, I wonder if the Clerk Magistrate took all of about 10 seconds to figure out he was dealing with a whack job?

Developing? Breaking? Raw video? We are waiting.

Geez, I hope there wasn't a gag order. But that wouldn't stop Doug Bennett would it?

up

and tried to get the disposition of the hearing, but the clerk said it was not publically disclosed. My guess, the Clerk Magistrate told Dougie to shit in his hat. Dougie being Dougie, realized he blew his publicity wad and is now in seclusion while his pea brain tries to figure a way to make a rose out of this stinkflower!

up
Voting closed 0

Hey Knucklehead, I think you answered your own question.

If Tompkins was innocent, then the case disposition would be public.

Obviously some sort of confidential agreement was made between the two parties where I am sure Tompkins will not be abusing his power and scaring store owners. I am also sure that it was made clear to the parties that such an abuse of power is ILLEGAL.

I would expect no more problems regarding this issue reoccurring again

up

Anon, I mean Doug, did you just violate the confidentiality agreement? Do you think by posting as anon you will get away with it? (maybe you will). But I think someone will be telling the court and the Tompkins campaign what you are doing here.

Looking forward to hearing from the other Doug, the one who calls himself Douglas Bennett

How just the slightest bit of provocation sends him into an anonymous posting, kind of like the ones he decries constantly as "cowardly". So the Clerk Magistrate, obviously realizing he was dealing with an absolute lunatic, told the Sheriff that if he was intimidating store owners (which I still doubt he was, as I wouldn't put it past Dougie to bribe someone to lie for him) to knock it off.

Meanwhile, I'm sure the Sheriff had reams of evidence pertaining to Doug's lunacy, which I'm sure lead the Clerk Magistrate to decide against wasting anyone's time with Doug's nonsense. So in the end, Sheriff Tompkins will retain his seat and Doug will have to actually end up having to continue working for a living and not sucking off of the taxpayers for a job he's clearly unqualified and not mentally stable enough to hold, not to mention tying up the legal system with his delusional nonsense.

Nice try, Dougie, so now you've blown your wad on this one, you may or may not be under a gag order to ever mention this again, screwing up your chance to possibly use it in your campaign against the Sheriff. Smooth move, Ex-Lax.

Oh, and by the way, Doug, if there was a gag order imposed you did indeedy just violate it, as only a few people know what the disposition of the case was and I don't think any of them post here besides you. Now who is the knucklehead? Of course any doubt reasonable people had about your qualification to be in law enforcement should now be made apparent that you can't even keep a court ordered gag order to yourself, you moron.

The results of a clerk's hearing are only public if the clerk finds probable cause that the defendant committed a crime and issues a complaint. If the clerk finds no probable cause, then nothing issues, the public never hears of it, and an innocent person doesn't have his reputation damaged by a frivilous clerk's hearing.

The hearing does not determine guilt/innocence. If a complaint issues and the DA pursues it to trial, a judge or jury finds whether the evidence supports a finding of guilty or not guilty (not innocent). The hearing also doesn't allow for a "confidential agreement" between the two parties, although they can reach one out of court.

for that clarification. Much appreciated.

So if this anon knows his court procedures, this contradicts what Dougie said.

By the way, Dougie's signs have become a cancer in Boston. At least the small ones in the storefronts are normal looking. But these larger signs handpainted on plywood or old doors (yes) are disturbing. A window into the mind of of 4th grader. Time to take them down. That should be Sherriff Tompkins first order of business.

Obviously things did not go well for Doug at the hearing.

Otherwise we all know he would be posting the news here on Uhub or Twitter(silent since 9-5).

Dvdoff tried, but due to national security or whatever, it's a state secret. Where's Wikileaks when you need them?

Doug? Where are you?

If this causes Dougie to leave these hallowed halls, who is really the winner here?

Although we all know Doug posted as anon yesterday, which according to Doug is a cowardly thing to do, we still haven't heard from Douglas Bennett himself. Still waiting.

he's back to his old psycho self, accusing people of being racist carpetbaggers and showing pictures of his infantile signs. Also he's calling Tompkins a corrupt crook by name. Yes, he's definitely showing the emotional maturity needed to run two major city jails, alright.

Uhub readers don't know if dvdoff's name is Dan or not. But one thing that is clear, when "anon" calls dvdoff "Dan", it's Doug the coward (according to Doug) who still hasn't posted under his own name since the infamous Tompkins vs Bennett hearing.
I don't know if Douganon is stupid, juvenile, or mentally ill. But he clearly is Doug Bennett

Doug
We would love to hear from the real Douglas Bennett. Perhaps you can clarify all of this anon stuff.

up

for a while. I'm sure he's licking his wounds from his stunning embarrassment at the hands of the Roxbury court. I'm sure Bennett showed himself to be as stupid and obnoxious to the Clerk Magistrate as he is to people here, hence nothing about it anywhere. Of course Doug's Twitter feed and his postings on Blue Mass Group as both himself and commenter "Democraticmassachusetts" can provide you with hilarity, if you're stoned and feel like a chuckle.

I was in Grove Hall this morning and I only counted three of those infantile signs around the neighborhood. I'm sure word has gotten around that Doug is trouble and/or nuts.

up

Well Doug is posting today about the Globe mayoral poll , but still has nothing to say about the Tompkins hearing. We know you're out there Doug and we want to hear from you, not your alter ego anon, or Andrea, or whatever. Thank you.

up

Doug
The hearing was a week ago today. Why don't you tell us what happened? If you can't, due to some court imposed agreement, then why not tell us that?

After aggressively promoting this hearing all over the internet, why not tell us the results? Just common courtesy isn't it?

The funny thing is that you were completely comfortable posting the results as anon, but you are afraid to post as Doug. Are you in fact a coward?

We know you're out there Doug.

up
Voting closed 0

but you have to know your basic Dougie. If you appeal to him reasonably, like you're doing here, Doug will ignore you. If you crack on his qualifications for the job he's seeking (he has none), or if you crack on the fact that he switched to being a Democrat when he carpetbagged to Dorchester from Republican leaning Nantucket so that he could run for Sheriff, then you might get a response from him.

Personally, I think he's too embarrassed to appear here, especially after his efforts to discredit Sheriff Tompkins have gone so spectacularly awry and he made such a big stink out of it here, on Blue Mass Group, and on Twitter, that I think someone who can actually think has advised him to stay off of the internet for a while and maybe come election time, some of the voters might not remember how stupid he is, though I doubt it.

Sure, Doug.Tompkins is the stupid one. I'm sure the good Sheriff quakes in his boots at night thinking of his defeat at the hands of a moron. Given the fact that you've been proven to be both a liar and a hypocrite on this very board(Roslindale Ronnie, Townie, the million anon postings) I'm sure you'll be pushing tenements for a long time.
