Police: Man tries to blow up gas station by flicking lighter at gas pump, but fails

Boston Police report charging some guy with attempted arson after he allegedly tried to make good on a threat to blow up the Mobil station at 85 Southampton St. by flicking a lighter at a gas pump.

After failing to ignite the gas station, police say, the man toddled down Southampton and onto Mass. Ave., where officers found him with a lighter in his pocket. In addition to charging him, police took him to a nearby hospital for observation, based on the way he was talking when found.

Good thing that somebody thought about some pretty obvious hazards and risks and designed gas pumps and propane tanks to minimize them.
