I can tell you haven't been to Charles Circle in like over a decade, Buzzy's has been gone for almost a decade now, maybe longer.

You're correct, though, that Buzzy's has been gone from that location for at least 10 years. Its leaving coincided with MGH expansion and the conversion of the Charles Street Jail (or at least planning for the conversion) to a hotel.

PUBLIC transportation system that is supposed to be funded by fare paying passengers and OUR tax dollars. Yet they still insist on separating PRIVATE companies from their money by pleading poverty, despite the fact they continue to ~~waste~~ their money on "necessary" things like pointless environmental studies, needless public meetings and neighborhood "design committees, and totally unnecessary "enhancements" like public art.

So, yes, what the MBTA is doing is still extortion, even if they manage to convince companies who are too naïve and/or profit hungry to realize that 95% of the money they spend on advertising is just being flushed down the dumper with no real return on investment. But I guess that's what happens when you have a system where supposed "for-profit" companies can write off their losses at tax collection time (which the MBTA cannot do).

reality. The companies that buy ads, whether commerical entities or non-profits, usually track results, and if the ads don't generate a decent return on investment, they spend those dollars elsewhere the next time their ad budget allows. There's no coercion involved. Anywhere. At all.

Right, because PUBLIC INPUT on PUBLIC transportation isn't needed. PUBLIC INPUT isn't needed on how PUBLIC (read: YOUR) tax dollars are spent. You just want the MBTA to willy-nilly to spend money just how it sees fit. Much like PRIVATE corporations do.. you know the same ones who give CEO's golden parachutes?

I mean, what you're saying is, it's OK to just bulldoze an entire neighborhood, without any PUBLIC INPUT, with the exception of "you have till tomorrow to get out" notices stapled to people's door. So we can safely assume that your house will be the first go get knocked down so I can put up a honking, ugly, grey and steel bus stop, even if I don't take up the entire property and even if its totally ugly, because PUBLIC INPUT does not matter according to you, right?

Oh and RIGHT, because all of these environmental meetings have absolutely NOTHING to do that its required EPA and the Federal Government. And some of these meetings are REQUIRED in order to get our tax dollars used to FUND such a project. Right?
