Forget the guy and his BMW at that South End fire

The real story is the mother who saved her kids - and then rushed back into the building to wake up her neighbors.

But, you know, this guy.

Sounds like her building had some code violations.

who seems to have plenty of money—should help out the people who lived in that house. He is "an attorney and a very successful software entrepreneur." How about a check to the fire department and the people who lived in front of that fire hydrant.

The firefighters considered it more annoying. They said it didn't slow them down.

Yes, he should help these people out. He should also get himself a damn parking space that is always available for him.

If there was a 1986 Yugo parked in front of that hydrant it would have not been in the news..
The fact it was a new looking BMW 5 series, that car lists around $58,000 new, this car could have well been bought from an auction for $17,000 , owner probably bought it used, it may look brand new, in order to keep up with the Joneses anyone can buy a Bmw that may look expensive, South End is no Charlestown or Beacon hill or Back bay regarding status and housing prices.

It wouldn't have been in the news because a couple of firefighters would have just taken a couple seconds and lifted the car out of the way.

Search the property records and you'll see that he owns a $2.2M house about 2 blocks away from the fire.

Nice try, though.

Thanks for putting this out there Adam. Until now I only saw the story about the entitled jerkoff. Amazing...

There was a follow-up article on him. He apologized to the firemen and they were very gracious. It does sound as though he really didn't realize he was next to a hydrant. A big mistake, of course, but he was not being a jerk deliberately.

of nice but clueless neighbors, who I can imagine doing something like this without realizing. Anyway here's the story: http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2014/11/20/paying-for-his-mistake/4DUOW....

Seriously. He doesn't use the car for days at a time? Garage it.

This is why Boston really needs to put a much higher price on public street parking.

So the post was about how it shouldn't be about the guy, but most of the comments are about the guy.

I thought her story was remarkable. You never know what you will do under those circumstances. God bless her.
