Yes, of course there's a reason a big helicopter is flying low and loud over the area

Specifically Roxbury and Dorchester with a jaunt up to Kendall Square. It's prep work for Monday's visit by the Obamas and Uncle Joe to Columbia Point for the opening of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the US Senate - next to the Kennedy Library.

I saw someone's posting asking YOU what that was.. and then I saw your post regarding the VP and Obama coming.

So for the noise today we can just say

THANKS OBAMA!

THANKS KENNEDYS! After all, it's because of the K's arrogance and ego that we even have this "necessary and vital" Senator Kennedy Institute.

Absolute waste of money. Spending tax payer money to further the questionable legacy of one of the richest families in America.

In a few years when the cenotaph to Senator Kennedy is in as much financial distress as the JFK presidential library the family will "donate" both to UMass to maintain rather than put a dime of their own money in.

UHub, to AdamG's credit, usually allows for fair and balanced comments sections compared to most online echo chambers.

The institute is already on the UMass campus.

The non-profit is located on the UMass Boston campus next door to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library.

I assume that means it will be funded by tax dollars. I cannot begin to tell you how thrilled I am at this "historic occasion." No, don't ask me, I just can't.

Took a field trip their with my 8th grade civics class, we were sorta beta testers for their Senate simulation program. It was hands down the most engaging and educational trip I have done as a teacher. I'm thrilled to have it in Boston.

You're a teacher and you wrote "Took a field trip *their* with my 8th grade civics class?"

The only thing more annoying than people asking why is there a helicopter flying somewhere are the people who ask why there is traffic on major roads during rush hour in a major city.

why there is traffic on major roads during rush hour in a major city.

Answer: Because Obama is in town to give a small speech and attend a major fundraiser.

Too?

Really?

And here I thought it was that there were too many people driving too many cars at one time on a twice-daily basis.

Thanks Obama!

I find the $16 admission fee offensive. I'm also offended by the $2 discount for Massachusetts residents, even though I am one.

It's not open to the public until Tuesday March 31. There's no way of knowing this unless you try to buy a ticket online.

I think it's exciting when a helicopter flies overhead, just like heavy equipment
digging up a street. I feel like jumping up and down or doing the pigeon-walk.
I imagine that I'm in a movie or something, that the people in the helicopter are
looking at me, maybe filming me, like Apocalypse Now.

I think you've forgotten what the people on the ground experienced when those helicopters appeared in Apocalypse Now. Unless you fantasize about having a napalm airstrike called in on you ...
