You get more with a Kenmore

More delays, more mess, more excuses.
Stephen Laniel adds this to a list of T construction and maintenance issues. And as somebody who moved back to Boston because he missed it so much, he gets frustrated:
... It all smells very much like politics: buried deep within the MBTA and the city government, someone has paid someone else off; or the union won't fix something because one of its members is pissed at Grabauskas; or there's a feud going between the Italian wing and the Irish wing of city government. Something. If someone knows the politics, I'm sure that's 99% of the story; I would love to hear it. And I would love for the Globe to dig down to this next level. When a bridge is effectively running at 25% capacity for a few months, I want my local media to explain the root cause, rather than constantly turning to "MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo."
What I want to know is: as someone who loves this city very deeply, what can I do to fix what's broken? I'm not leaving this place. I want to make it better.

You can't fix Boston
It is what it is. People with too much money and power making it irritating for people who are lacking in either or both.
You're welcome to join me when I move to California. If I'm going to overpay to live, might as well not shovel snow while I do it. We can go halfsies on gas.

And you won't miss a beat with respect to dysfunctional City Hall government. Or the state, for that matter. The only thing you will miss is a decent daily newspaper. The Chron makes the Boston Globe read like the Wall Street Journal. And the Examiner really is only good for lining your bird cage. Glad it's free!
Just get ready to adjust to what the locals call 'micro-climates'. It keeps you guessing from one hour to the next. It's been the coldest, foggiest summer I've ever known.

I'd contribute to a fund to rid the Commonwealth of one more "no can do", complacent, jaded, cynical resident whose voice contributes to the soft bigotry of low expectations.
Oh, I just had an ugly thought
This article brings up two interesting points and doesn't think about the ugly joining of these two ideas...
1) The Sox are well positioned to keep winning into October for the next few years at the very least. Maybe even winning it all, spawning many Kenmore celebrations to come. (the article discusses this as one of the excuses used by the MBTA for being delayed)
2) The "roof" of the bus station at Kenmore is now panes and panes of glass.
Ergo) When the Sox win the World Series, how much time, money, and effort is going to be lost to replace all of the broken glass?
Who's bright idea was it to put the China Shop right next to the bull pen?
The roads are a joke
I recently saw Kenmore in its current state for the first time. Never mind the confusing traffic patterns, lack of order when the lights turn green nor the lack of rhyme or reason to some of the construction. The sheer size of some of the bumps was damaging cars before my very eyes. In front of Bertuccis there was a hole that people were hitting over and over and the sound of metal-on-pavement banging repeated itself over and over.
Kenmore Square is an embarrassment in its current state. It is hazardous to your car to drive through Kenmore as well. As an ex-Boston resident, it's funny to see how dysfunctional some of these agencies and politicians are from the outside looking in.
