Teen charged with shooting at group of people in front of Roxbury court

Boston Police report officers who heard gunfire in front of Roxbury Municipal Court shortly before noon yesterday, spotted the alleged shooter running away and were able to catch up with him and place him under arrest.

Police say one officer rushing to the scene saw the Mattapan 17-year-old, name not released, open fire on "a group of males" in front of the courthouse.

Nobody was hit, police say. Police add that while officers were able to catch up with him, they did not find the gun he used.

He was charged with being delinquent for assault by means of a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.

At his arraignment today, he was ordered held in lieu of bail of $250,000, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

The DA's office adds: "While the preliminary evidence suggests he fired on a group outside Roxbury court, it does not suggest that he himself was in court before the incident."

attacking civilians outside a courthouse would be considered an act of terror by almost anybody. i think an assault on a government building is 100% an act of terror, so i ask you, who is the troll here?

you don't need to be a zealot, muslim, or non-american for an act to be considered one of terror. i might consider asking people at the courthouse how they felt during the assault.

you are, at best...a racist

It should also be an act of terrorism to attack your ex in an order of protection, divorce or custody proceeding, yet that (despite being unreasonably common) seems to get a pass on the terrorism charges, too.

That would be because the word 'terrorism' has a perfectly good meaning that does not include ordinary criminal actions. If everything is terrorism, then the word becomes degraded to the point of uselessness.

any attack on official buildings in any capacity should be considered an act of terror. other things too, of course, but certainly that.

if you have to second guess your safety in a government building we are truly effed
