You can always tell when people writing stories or police reports aren't from a certain neighborhood, any neighborhood...Cuz anyone who's from Dot and knows the area knows that the intersection of Cottage and Dudley ain't even REMOTELY close to "Uphams Corner" in Dorchester....not to mention that where East Cottage and Dudley meet is actually in Roxbury....Uphams Corner is Dorchester...

Funny, though (or not, depending on your "perspective"), how a Roxbury shooting shows up as "Uphams Corner" in the media....

Know wh'um sayin?

Yep, I'm from nowhere near that area. I looked at the location on a map and saw it was a few blocks from the Uphams Corner train station. I made a mistake, for which I apologize. I make mistakes all the time with neighborhood boundaries, even in my own neighborhood, the one I've lived in for 20+ years, because Boston neighborhood boundaries are a blight on humanity and one of the more annoying things about Boston, right up there with our 73,000 Washington streets and the way two major streets in South Boston are named Dorchester Avenue and Dorchester Street.

No, I'm not part of the media cabal out to defame Uphams Corner. There is no such cabal, because the media, except for the Dorchester Reporter, has never heard of Uphams Corner and so never covers it.

You actually get a pass on mixing that one up. I grew up there, and one part of Leyland Street has always been considered Uphams Corner.

Now, if you do that "North" Dorchester crap, that's another story.

It speaks volumes of an individual who can publicly apologize for a mistake and do it with tact.

I live in Uphams Corner. We are certainly not without our incidents of violence, however it is certainly not like anything that is down the street on Dudley Street. And once again as I've said before it is only a Selected Few individuals that are generating the violence in that area. The majority of the people are very hard on this working respectful citizens of Boston.

As a resident Uphams Corner, I accept your apology. Not that I sought it.
