Mob rushes, robs Roslindale gas station

WFXT has video of the mob rushing into the store at Alfa, Washington Street at South Street and just grabbing stuff. One of the perpetrators slipped on the way out.

The clerk should've locked the front door. It'd give the cops enough time to bring a paddy wagon for all these lowlifes.

im completely offended!

if there's one thing I'm responsible for as a $10/hour clerk, it's being trapped inside a building with a mob of angry people who want to get out before the cops arrive.

Someone who presumably works there seems to be fighting them off at about 0:53 or so. (I'm assuming she works there because you can see her picking up some debris and not running later). Glad she's ok.

because the video is good enough to identify these young scholars?

That mom wasn't doing them much good anyway.

Truth be told, there is not much in the way of entertainment these days. On TV it just the convention and it can be boring to watch.

I dont think we are looking at the future leaders of the next generation, but who knows... they still have time.

That's a first. Maybe it has to do with the breakdown of the traditional household, but ya the fact I love Lucy is no longer on is probably the real issue.

up
Voting closed 0

and I think we can all agree it was because we were all at home having a good laugh with Lucy and friends.

...and I think it's not a coincidence that this happened during the time slot for the unfortunately cancelled Charles in Charge

Chachi obviously has too much time on his hands now.

Did you just blame the lack of anything good on TV as a reason a mob of people decided to rob a convenience store? Not a lack of decency? Or no moral compass? These folks did this because they just don't give a shit about society and that has more to do with their environment and upbringing than it does a lack of entertainment.

When they canceled Firefly I knocked over a liquor store.

For the Firefly reference alone.

LOL. There are hundreds of channels. Critics are complaining that there are too many good shows on TV, calling this era "Peak TV". Ever hear of Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go, Amazon Prime? Your comment could not be more wrong.

They left with very little and are now at risk for court time. They should have used their brains and thought it out. Good camera information.

Like they are going to show up ?

then took off in, they're probably from Fawndale. Shouldn't be to hard to track down one or two these saints.

up

These kids are not from Fawndale, I have lived here over 20 years!!! Stick to the facts, a party!! If they were from Fawndale they would not be getting on buses causing more mayem!!!! Regarding race card, really???

Thanks for living on public assistance for 20 years.

Some people have no choice, after being injured or getting sick after working for 20 years.

Count your blessings before God decides to teach you some perspective.

I was riding the 34 bus, which passed by right after this happened. These animals stormed the bus, started spraying the soda that they stole, kicked out out the windows from the inside, and were throwing objects at the bus from the outside. There were about 25 of them ranging from 15-18. It was late at night - where were their parents?

T video available?

up

The can track down the charlie cards of these kids. It will ID them faster than pictures.

up

each pausing to swipe his charlie card...

The driver wouldn't allow all of them to "storm the bus" without paying. some of them did tap, and that will help them figure where this crowd came from.

up

if they kicked out windows then the Transit police were already called.

Way to go Rozzie neighbors - we look great on TV.

If we want to get serious about nabbing this group of lowlifes, all faces should be printed and posted around the Healy Field area. These scumbags live in Roslindale, they were on foot. The fact that 20 or so "people" agreed to enter and rob a local business is completely unacceptable. Take the blur off the video, print out flyers, and post them, otherwise there will be more of this to come. Too bad - that gas station has really low gas prices, I bet we will see those prices rise in the wake of mass robbery.

And there are several ways to ID them without publicly shaming them.

It seems that you believe that children are shielded from real punishment, but in fact, they get higher bails and more restrictive conditions than adults arrested for the same offenses.

with no expectation of privacy. If a news outlet shows pictures of the beach on a hot day, they show people's faces regardless of age. Why wouldn't similar privacy rules apply. Here's one example.

Those people are pretty far away and the people in the article were asked permission.

This is a news story about a crime. The investigations and prosecutions of children are not public information. Children are not competent to waive their right to privacy simply by doing something awful in a public place.

They will be caught, and punished, and you won't know anything about it. Just because you didn't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

... when going out in public and robbing a store.

Delinquent children are entitled to privacy. They have a poor understanding of their own privacy. Social media can show you how much dangerous personal info they share. If you want to solve this pay attention to the children in your life.

up

No privacy from being held accountable according to what was caught on video.

Privacy from from public identification as suspects as they are under age, in accordance with the laws governing juvenile justice.

Consider this as well: we see some kids perpetrating mayhem, but some kids may have just been there in the store when it was mobbed. As we saw last week, lumping them all together for punishment because "well, teens are all bad" and "they were there so they MUST have been involved" is highly inappropriate when some may have just been bystanders or customers.

up
Voting closed 0

I can't find any innocent bystander teens in that video. A few dazed adults but ...

These kids deserve to be held responsible, but not by Internet mob justice.

up
Voting closed 0

... the ramsackers, it should not be allowed? How do ypou suggest the police find out who was involved?

up
Voting closed 0

So they either at some kind of event or a scheduled activity like work or school. Send out stills to different police agencies. I'll bet that some of them tapped in to that 34 bus and might have even used their school pass.

Once they figure out where they started, that will narrow it down a great deal.

up
Voting closed 0

What activity was scheduled at 12:30 AM on Sunday? Sure, find that out and you've got your suspects!

up
Voting closed 0

that large a group didn't get together randomly.

up
Voting closed 0

There are several kids who never go in the store.

up
Voting closed 0

I was really hoping my preconceived notion of what race these kids were was wrong before watching the video. Unfortunately, I was not wrong. Ugh...

up
Voting closed 0

why does that matter?

up
Voting closed 0

It shouldn't matter, but the fact that they are black will only contribute to the idea that many people have that black kids are criminals.

up
Voting closed 0

I'm Dominican-American but yeah, he's right. The fact that these idiots did this only stresses more on stereotypes and how I'm (now) likely to be perceived if I ever walk into that gas station. Suffice to say, raise the hammer on these morons. Hard labor.

Flash robbing of candy and soda leads to flash robbing of clothing stores, liquor stores, jewelry stores, sneaker stores, CVS stores etc.

Broken window theory needs application - catch and send these kids to juvie court.

up
Voting closed 0

Broken windows is a theory that isn't very well validated through scientific investigation.

Slippery slope is a fallacy.

You need to do better than that to "prove" x leads to y.

up
Voting closed 0

I'd be enthralled to see your data establishing a causal relationship between flash robbing convenience stores, and flash robbing sneaker stores.

No, really. I'll wait.

up
Voting closed 0

all participated in a social media event to bum rush the store. It's only a matter of time before the BPD smokes them out through social media, school police and multiple surveillance and selfie video sources.

For once can you people LEAVE RACE OUT OF IT?! For the love of god! Knock it off with the skin color bullshit! Sickening and disgusting. ENOUGH ALREADY! The bottom line is they are KIDS! Who cares about the color of their skin. They will get probation and community service. You people sound like a bunch of pigs!! If you were not going on and on about the color of a persons skin then it would not be an issue. Look inside your self righteous selves for once!!

"If you were not going on and on about the color of a persons skin then it would not be an issue"

Sorry, what exactly wouldn't be an issue? Robbing a store and intimidating employees?

P.S. Your post needs MOAR CAPS.
