Falling ceiling at Back Bay station

Todd Buffum shows us where part of the ceiling plunged to the ground today at the entrance to Tracks 5 and 7 at Back Bay.

This reminds me of the tunnel at Downtown Crossing where you get the redline going outbound. I swear the ceiling is going to collapse. They have makeshift "fixes" like plywood and tape, but one of these days, something bad is going to happen :-(

That's one of the stations where the inbound/outbound terminology doesn't make much sense (and, to my knowledge, isn't used anywhere in the station)

in the four "core" stations: Government Center, Park Street, Downtown Crossing, and State. However, Government Center Green Line platform signs display "Copley and West" (actually should be "Park St, Copley, and West) for the westbound platform and "North Station and North" (actually should be North Station and East) for the eastbound platform - the Westbound and Northbound designations were posted on signs well prior to the remodeling.

Given that the operations dispatchers for each subway line, as well as most MBTA alerts, have largely dispensed with the use of the terms inbound and outbound in favor of using cardinal directions (North, South, East, West) in their formal communications, perhaps the MBTA could update the platform signing to reflect the current terminology. IMO, it would be a simple step to reduce possible passenger confusion

...they've got to get rid of those ill placed tile "Scollay Under" signs at Government Center. Bringing back this unneeded, name during the restoration of Government Center Station was a mistake. Depending what car one is on, it's the first sign one sees when arriving at Government Center from such Blue Line stops as Airport. I have seen people with suitcases who got on at airport get off at Government Center and then run back on the train when they see the "Scollay Under" sign, thinking they are at the wrong station. "Scollay Under" is also the first sign one sees when descending to the Blue Line platform from the street and upper floor of Government Center. It's a confusing mess.
