Man charged with masturbating next to a woman on the Orange Line

Andujar

Transit Police report arresting a Roslindale man they say sat down next to a woman on an Orange Line train headed to Forest Hills this morning, unzipped and began fondling himself.

The woman got up and moved away but then Saddan Andujar, 26, followed her as the train traveled through Jamaica Plain, police say.

Both exited the train at Forest Hills, only he then got a ride in a cruiser to Transit Police headquarters for booking on a charge of open and gross lewdness, police say.

Innocent, etc.

Sex offenders should be barred from riding the rails. There are children taking the trains to school everyday and their safety trumps sex offenders right to public transportation.

Why specifically public transportation, as opposed to, say, the library, the park, the grocery store, other places where a sex offender might encounter children, or anyone else for that matter.

Lemme guess, you didn't really think this one through, either.

Can one go to jail for open and gross lewdness? These guys are addicted to commiting these acts. MBTA perverts should start their own 12step program. Ha ha LOL, I just had a vision of an SNL skit!!

Ages don't match. Could be a mistake or maybe not. If you bothered to google you may want to pay a bit more attention to details. The proverbial devil is in the details and that then leas to transparency is paramount.

Perhaps you saw the address (20 Stella Rd) and confused it for age?

The Devil may be in the details, but without decent reading comprehension you're unlikely to spot him.

This guy needs to be locked up forever.

You should be able to punch him in the face. Just my opinion.

Another reason why I wish they didn't have fabric on the seats.

reason why I never even consider using the seats.

I sit too often at work anyway. Standing on the train is the way to go.

Oh yeah, and yes, ban these assholes from the T.

To the person who mentioned the libraries/parks/etc: yes, yes, and yes. If they do a similar act at the park? Banned from parks. At the library? banned from the library system. Works for me.

Until nonporous surface seats arrive, I will continue using the Boston Metro as a seat cover.

I certainly think its weird and rude and disgusting behavior, but, Adam, why do you always publish the photos of these, *ahem*, self-gratifiers ? What about innocent-until-proven, and the public shaming resultant?

We almost never see other mugshots from robberies, etc. (Plus, they're always so desperate looking)

Guess I'm new here, but for this second also a little devils advocate.

But I can see one reason for the mug shots: witnesses to that alleged crime or others might recognize the person, and come forward.

If corrupt politicians start using arrests to disappear political opponents, that could be another reason, but Boston is not that corrupt.

The problem with publicizing mug shots and names of the arrested is that the web permanence, and the immature citizenry who refuse to respect civics, mean that an arrest on a mere accusation turns into immediate and lifelong serious punishment, regardless of guilt.

And we know that arrests are sometimes in error, and that false accusations sometimes happen.

In balance, I'd prefer what I hear some countries do, which is keep the identity of the accused secret unless and until found guilty.

Adam: I respectfully suggest that, if you don't rework the whole naming policy at this time, you at least change the UH "Innocent, etc." reminder, to spell it out, since people obviously don't get it.

I believe Adam posts the mug shots of those arrrested by the Transit Police. BPD probably doesn't provide them.

Just a theory, but doing a mental inventory, the mug shot stories always seem to have something to do with the T.

Adam is just using information supplied by officials same as other media outlets. Its already out there.

The MBTA has a good reason to publish perp pictures that goes back thousands of years - shame can be an effective deterrent of bad behavior. T cops can't be everywhere, so shaming people for cheating fare gates, smoking, assaulting drivers, and grossing out fellow riders helps keep the T more tolerable for everyone.

No, but really... what is the end game when someone does this?
