Man charged with stabbing T bus driver in Lynn

Transit Police report arresting a man they say stabbed the driver of a route-426 bus twice in the back around 11:45 p.m., Saturday.

Passengers on the bus grabbed the man after the attack on Boston Street at Fenton Avenue and held him until police could arrive. Police report the driver, stabbed "without provocation," was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

Police did not identify the suspect, but said he is 53 and lives in Lynn.

Every month we hear one story after another of MBTA bus drivers being beaten, spit on and now being stabbed. Years ago transit police officers actually rode buses to protect passengers and drivers. I know that they don't have enough officers but shouldn't they at least have to park their fancy suv's and ride one bus trip during their shift.

The T should offer these passengers free T rides for a year.

Why isn't the public allowed to see this jerk and know his name?

Great job MBTA Police on the arrest. I hope the Bus Operator is ok physically and now mentally I hope that you recover quickly also.

Anyone who assaults a person especially the bus driver sitting in a chair defensively are cowards
