Red Line is in a really big pickle because Alewife signals are fickle

The T reports "minor" delays because of signal problems at Alewife. Seth Rosenberg provides the opposing viewpoint:

This is a bold faced lie. I just got booted off a train at central that had moved 6 stops in 40 mins. At least call it severe.

It took me over an hour to get from Quincy Center to South Station.

It took me two hours to get from Savin Hill to Davis. Ten minutes in each station. At each station, it got more crowded and noticeably hotter. Really pretty miserable.

Or one of those Citi Bike things?

News alert people: public transit won't be getting better any time soon, and in fact will only continue to get worse. Now would be a good time to check out other options.

1 hour from MGH to Quincy Center. Ridiculous The train was jam packed with people yelling to get on. Some jerks at JFK swearing on the platform. We all need to get home/work. Hopefully tomorrow will be better

Serious question:
Why are you all complaining?

To commiserate with fellow passengers?

Because the troubles with the red line (and the T in general) are structural and are probably never going to be fixed. No one wants to pay the money and even if there was money, a project to improve the red line to increase capacity and better service would be on the size of the Big Dig.

give approximate delay times. Why can't the alerts do also (like they did years ago)?
