Bomb threat at Bunker Hill Community College shuts Orange Line

UPDATE, 6:25 p.m. The T stop has been re-opened and normal service is resuming.

The Orange Line came to a halt in both directions after State Police responded to Bunker Hill Community College for a bomb threat late this afternoon. The T is now running shuttle buses between North Station and Sullivan Square.

Yet I-93, Gilmore Bridge, and Leverett Connector - all of which would be in the direct line of fire should the station explode - remain open to traffic .

The T seems to overreact to this security theater. It's one thing when a water truck is overhanging the tracks. That shut everything down.

as in someone calling in "there's a bomb", or just someone overreacting to a harmless lost backpack somewhere?

I work at the college. From what I am hearing a note was left on the car saying "This car is going to explode." They also found a second car that they investigated. They were outside of the college before 5pm, because I left about 3 minutes before 5 and the police tape was already out and helicopters overhead.

I know that at least one car was searched by the bomb squad. It had the car's trunk, hood and all the doors open. The car was parked in a BHCC lot adjacent to the T tracks.

I heard on twitter (unconfirmed) that there was another car searched in a different BHCC lot. I also heard that there was a note on one of the cars.
