Meteor, or perhaps Hal Jordan, flashes through the southern sky

Philip Brenner reports seeing a meteor to the southeast around 3 p.m. today.

Herald reporter O'Ryan Johnson reports he saw it, too:

Driving to work on Interstate 95 south. Near Georgetown. Saw a green streak in the sky. Thought I was seeing things.

Meteors are the tiny rocks that turn into shooting stars when they burn up in the atmosphere. The big ones that survive to hit the ground are meteorites. Crazy, huh?

And the Martian invaders in WoW landed in what looked like meteorites.

Weird. I was in the Fenway/Boylston St area last night around 11:30 and saw a shooting star. But perhaps it was a meteor as well.
