Police make scary find: Nearly seven pounds of fentanyl and a Halloween mask

Fentanyl and mask

Boston Police report arresting a Charlestown man and seizing more than three kilos of fentanyl - and other drugs - Friday morning from the Roxbury auto business where he worked. Additional arrests are expected, police say.

Police say local and State Police detectives were tipped off that Manuel Pineda-Herrera, 28, was expecting a drug delivery at the Norfolk Avenue business. They seized three packages of fentanyl and a mask and arrested him. After obtaining a search warrant, police say they found "numerous heat-sealed, compressed packages of suspected Fentanyl, separate plastic bags of Fentanyl, along with cocaine, marijuana, and morphine pills."

Pineda-Herrara was charged with a variety of drug offenses, police say.

Innocent, etc.

be out in no time. I don't know how, but every time I hear about someone getting caught with drugs they are out in less than 6 months doing the same.

That’s an aweful lot of fentanyl, like distribution levels.

So, enough fentanyl to kill 1,000,000 people?

just from the reckless risk of death to individual drug users and first responders.

If there's a viable dispersal method for reaching 1,000,000 people, then I think it becomes a WMD, which I think would mean anyone involved in the supply line would be lucky if they only got decades in prison.

Depends if they included the packaging in the weight, the same way marijuana grow-op busts include the full weight of the plant (not just stems, sometimes also rootballs!) in their smug reports.

The fentanyl may also be cut, either with filler or other drugs, so who knows what the lethal dose is.

Either way, that's still a shitload of the stuff. o.o
