Orange Line trains be parking, after trackside cable starts sparking

The MBTA reports "moderate" delays on the Orange Line due to a troublesome trackside cable at Community College that started spitting sparks. The Boston Fire Department took a look, declared an all out, but not until trains were held up and down the line.

He also noted the continuing operating issues with the T system post-2015. Meanwhile Pollack and Ramirez patted themselves on the back for a terrible job.

And as we saw today, busted pipes are par for the course in this weather (or at least the weather we are hopefully leaving behind.) But even I sigh when it is this kind of infrastructure breakdown. I don't know what kind of preventative maintenance would keep this from happening (as I remind people that I don't in fact work for the T) but when it comes to signals, switches, and apparently cables, this is something that doesn't need to be manufactured overseas and assembled here- it can be done closer to home and a bit more quickly.

The MBTA will announce the hiring of high priced consultants to study why dog sleds in Siberia provide a more efficient and safe mode of public transportation.

Thank Rick Astley I wasn't going to Boston that day, because figuring out the alternative bus routes is a massive dismay.
