Large fire erupts in Dudley Square

A four-alarm fire heavily damaged a clothing store in Dudley Square and forced the evacuation of a neighboring apartment building.

The Boston Fire Department reports the fire at 2365 Washington St., called in around 5:45 p.m., did an estimated $300,000 to the one-story commercial building. All of the apartment-building residents were evacuated safely.

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause.

Just trolling.

considering the amount of time you spend on this site, who is the troll again?

And I'm not faulting Gaffin, he has mouths to feed and those bike posts bring the clicks in. Dead black kids in neighborhoods that don't have artisinal anything just don't seem to affect the average U-Hubber in terms of response posts.

Fact, not trolling.

So off-topic. Also, it's spelled "artisanal".

Last I checked it was spelled "stupid marketing name designed to part more morons from their money for basic food stuffs hand made by the most sensitive man bun wearing hipsters we could find".

Better?

Listening on Fire dispatch...ground command ordered all out of structure and roof. Attacking fire externally. Command states no persons or pets found inside. All evacuated safely.

Hopping the Silver Slipper survives this one (looks like the fire is the other end of the block, but still...). The new building behind where the fire is went up in the past few years -- all wooden structure, no elevator 5 floors -- hoping that doesn't go up.

Do you know the name of the store that burned?

(Somehow, I knew nothing about this despite being a few blocks away at First Church in Roxbury while it happened.)

Okay, your post hadn't appeared while I was writing my other.

This is the other end of the block I was looking at. Same taller building in the background.

I think it's this place - Drain's House of Style (for him and her)

I went by about 6:10 this evening, turning left from Washington Street northbound onto Dudley/Malcom X westbound. Looking as I turned, most of the apparata seemed to be surrounding this block, including one of the ladder units, and smoke billowing from/over the top of the taller building (though not clear to me then where the fire actually was)
