Charlie goes online

The T reports CharlieCard users can now renew or replenish their cards online, by setting up a MyCharlie account.

The new system lets monthly pass holders have their cards get renewed automatically and lets users get replacement CharlieCards for lost or stolen cards. T General Manager Dan Grabauskas said:

With this new technology, customers who register their CharlieCard receive a replacement free of charge. That was a legitimate customer concern that today is an issue of the past.

Could you run that through the decrypticifier, please?

Computer networks use switches, too. So if the network goes down, it might have switch problems.

This is why I rarely leave the house anymore - it's for my own good :-).

I once made a text-to-speech system on a decmate in the media lab say "my circuits are integrated through forced busing".

You can't do that at a kiosk, either. Charlie has not yet reached the Commuter Boat, Rail, or express busses. I believe full deployment is scheduled for early 2007...

I used a Charlie Card on an Outer Express Bus today. It subtracted the subway fare (I'd just gotten off) from the bus fare. Nice.

Perhaps you can use the Charlie Card on some, but not all, express buses - a gradual rollout? Or did this post go through a time warp on its way here?

I get an error message: "charliecard.mbta.com has sent an incorrect or unexpected message. Error code -12263"
Seems like business as usual for the MBTA.

Internal error occurred, please call 1-888-844-0355 for support..

That's the message I get when I try to sign up. I'm now attempting to navigate the phone tree now...

I registered my card and my son's card, no problems. Then, when I tried to add value to them, it took all the info and then burped when it tried to complete the transaction.

Please report back on the phone tree - I'd like to know how that works.

The phone tree is more like a phone weed...

I couldn't get to anything more than charlie card services, and then I was on hold for about 10 minutes, and I just can't do that while I'm at work.

Hopefully, they'll get this sorted out, as this is a feature that should have been included from day 1.

Can't wait to try it. But I'll wait a month or so to let problems bubble to the surface and give the kids at MIT a chance to hack it.

As much as I have a lot of personal information online through online stores and reward programs, I don't think I'll be as open to the T website.

I get the following error message:

Unfortunately, this CharlieCard isn't valid for usage with in the system.

Huh? I sent an email to customer service so should I hear back from them I'll post an update.
