Three teens arrested for failed robbery down the street from Stony Brook station

Capt. John Greland at District E-13 reports two 18-year-olds and a 16-year-old were arrested last night after a passing motorists noticed them trying to mug a woman on Boylston Street, near Germania Street and scared them off.

Greland says the three, from JP, Roxbury and Brighton, were found not long after at Columbus Avenue and Dimock Street. He said E-13 has stepped up patrols in the area of late, using both plainclothes and uniformed officers and detectives. Attempts to have undercover cops act as potential victims have yet to work, he said.

Nice to know the Yoots of the city can come together like this to accomplish a goal.

Their idea of "plain clothes" in JP are a couple of big white boys with crew cuts in a maroon crown vic (frequently illegally parked on Centre Street) with an antenna on the back, lightbars "hidden" in the windows and front grill. Any idiot can see they're cops.

BPD:where patrolling in a police car that isn't white+blue = undercover!

Newsflash, guys. Put some people on foot in these crime areas.

Big white boys? So they have no black boys on the BPD?

All the anon was saying is that the cops who are assigned to sit in the not-so-subtle cruiser on Centre St. are white. So no, these two cops are not Black boys.

(Also, I know exactly what the person is referring to; there's a certain sort of crew cut that people with Caucasian hair texture pretty much only choose if they're a cop and/or in the military. It's one of the tipoffs that you're looking at undercover cops, along with the antennae and "hidden" lights on the car, as well as the excessively straight posture and shoulders-held-back-to-emphasize-chest-broadness that is often a characteristic of male police or military officers. Most male police and military officers with African-textured hair also have very short haircuts, but the hair alone isn't as much of a tipoff since many Black men are currently wearing very short haircuts.)

The trio is charged with tackling the woman and then attempting to steal her backpack, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office.

Yahya Ahmed, 18, of Jamaica Plain and Atif Mohammed, 18, of Brighton, were each charged with assault and battery and assault with intent to rob. The 16-year-old, not named because of his age was also charged with the same offenses.

Mohammed was released on personal recognizance, Ahmed's bail was set at $500. The DA's office had asked for $5,000 on each. The kid was released to the custody of his parents, but ordered to be home by 5 p.m.

Innocent, etc.

Boylston St. and Germania St. don't intersect, so bad description on their part, but the bloorp on your map isn't even on Boylston St.

Since, yes, Boylston and Germania don't intersect.

...but wouldn't "Victim was walking on Boylston street towards Germania Street when the suspects attacked her" suggest that the bloorp should be on Boylston Street at least? Boylston between Haverford and Brookside would seem about right, since those are the two ways to get to Germania Street.

boylston at germania would be describing the corner store on the left coming from washington street. germania and boylston don't intersect really, but they do meet there. germania runs parallel to boylston and then makes a left to meet boylston at the store.

there are plenty of teens that hang around that corner and that store.
