By cousin, 7, playing with an illegal gun. Liquarry Jefferson died at Boston Medical Center.

Liquarry's mother, Lakeisha Gadson, and her son, Jayquan McConnico, 16, were charged with involuntary manslaughter - and lying to investigators on 3/21/08 about how Liquarry died.

I love how the family tried to originally cover it up by telling the police that armed intruders broke into the home and shot the boy before fleeing the scene. Thats a great job of taking responsibility for your son's actions. Maybe next time they should leave a whole rack of guns out in front of the kids so they can choose to their liking, and then blame society for whatever consequences occur.

This woman needs to be a poster child for how NOT to raise your kids. The media put all the business out there telling everyone how much money the state has paid to try to help this family and look how it turned out. Damn shame. It's women like her who give all the good ones out there a bad name and fuck it up for everyone else. How selfish of her to have children only to ruin their entire lives. Motherhood is a gift and she is an ungrateful recipient. I hope she gets every last thing she deserves for what has happened.

damn it's already fuck up that her 8 year old son is dead but she will deal with that for the rest of her life and i dont think that she needs to be in jail get her some help plp act like this woman didnt care about her child she just made a poor judgement in her part but she will have to deal with what she did not the da or the people who will prove thats she gulity but dont u think come on shes been arrested 35 times and no one offers her help, please plp calm down

No one offers help . . . what? What do you think all that state and gov't money was for? Come on. Truth is, you can only help those who want to help themselves, and obviously . . . need I say more? THIS is why people don't get the help they need - because the gov't is looking for people just like her to continue to perpetuate the myths and the downfall of Black people by making a case in point of all the help she received and she still continues to fail. She is being used as a perfect example of why the gov't don't give a shit about us and don't want to help us. Their mentality is: why should we help folks who don't want to help themselves. Instead of highlighting the positive things Black people are doing, they glorify the negative - am I wrong?????
Either which way though this is just a bad situation all around. No doubt. I just feel sorry for the kids and hope that they can rise above it. May God Bless their souls and give them the strength to get past this.

You people are steady going back and forth over something that has nothing to do w/ yall! What happened was just a careless mistake that could have been prevented! She knows she was wrong, and she's been through enough pain in these last couple of months! Some people are just unfit and can't take up the responsibilty of taking care of children, and its obvious that she is one them! Get off her back!!!!

WAT ABOUT ALL THE WOMEN WHO LET THEIR MEN MOVE IN AND MOLEST THEIR KIDS!?!...etc...

Why isn't anyone saying anything about the lady who let her boyfriend abuse her 7 year old and burn him on his private with a cigarette!? And pissed on his head while he was taking a bath!?

First off yes this was a tragedy that could have been prevented.But what i don't understand is what my cousin's(liquarry's father)past has to do with what happened to his son.I feel like this whole thing was turned into a gossip column.What does it matter why my cousin is in jail or how many times the mother has been arrested.That all happen before my cousin lost his life so one has nothing to do with the other.People need to focus on what happened and not people's past because the state knew about her past everytime she got arrested so why didn't yaul feel she was unfit before?It took for her child to loose his life for the state to see there's a problem?I feel like she has suffered enough knowing she'll never see her child again as long as she lives.Who the hell are we to judge!That's what's wrong with the world!Opinions are like asshole's and everybody's got one.Honestly i feel bad for her and i know if she could turn back the hands of time things would be different.Everybody just blames her but you don't know what kind of childhood she had or what type of life she had to go through in her own life.I don't know her that well but i don't wish nothing bad to happen to her.Instead of pointing finger's put your hand's together and pray for her soul!!!I pray for you if knowbody else does!

I can't believe it's almost 1yr since Liquarry has passed.So you already know what the paper's are gonna look like on that day.I really wish they would stick to the issue at hand and not the fact that my cousin is in jail or what he has done in his past.I feel neither parents history have anything to do with what happened.They just wanted to feel they'd get a better story by turning it into a gossip column!I don't know Lakeisha very well but how can people think she hasn't suffered enough.Yes it could have been prevented but who are we to judge and throw stones.Only god can judge her.I don't wish nothing bad to happen to her or for her to spend her life in jail.She will suffer everyday of her life because her child is gone.Everyday she open's her eyes i'm sure she suffers.What about the lady that let her boyfriend bite her kids ear!What about the lady who let her kid get beat and molested.We only heard one or two stories about that.They didn't dig all in there backround and talk about them the way they've done my cousin and Lakeisha.So your telling me it's okay for kids to get molested,burned,beat and pissed on as long as they live?Instead of everybody pointing there finger's yaul need to pray for her soul,i do if knowbody else does!
