Shot to death in Dorchester

Donald George Smith, Jr., 35, around 10:40 p.m. yesterday at 377 Park St. Taken to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The Globe reports he was a father of four and that he was not the intended target; he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time - walking to the Red Line after watching the Super Bowl at his girlfriend's apartment.

It's Boston's ninth murder this year; the eighth in Dorchester (see map).
