Not to discriminate against old people
But they really shouldn't be driving.
You're half right
No, you should not discriminate against old people, since this would be unfair to the old people with good eyesight and reflexes and concentration.
But if the police were to start frickin enforcing traffic laws, many of the old (and young!) people who have poor eyesight and poor reflexes and poor concentration would have had their licenses revoked long before they actually harmed someone. I'd imagine that most people who (allegedly) plow into a woman after not having seen her probably also pretty frequently don't see stop signs, lane markings, people stepping into crosswalks but not yet in the car's path, etc. I see people doing all of this stuff on a daily basis in view of cops who don't pull them over.
Today I was behind a car that had its left blinker on for about a mile. Then I let a cop car pull in in front of me. Cop car followed Mr. Blinky for about another mile. Mr. Blinky turned right. Cop kept driving along. Why not pull the person over and see what's going on that's keeping them from paying attention to their driving? I'm not saying to issue a huge fine or anything even, but let's not just condone this kind of thing.

Boston Police statement
Here.
No charges filed yet in the incident that saw Marie Conley, 59, of Dorchester, rushed to the hospital in serious condition.
Fast Recovery, Marie
I guess it's better that you were hit than the kid. That's the point, right? Godspeed your fast recovery.
Dirty Jobs
I think that the Dirty Jobs guy should go be a crossing guard for a week.
Seriously.
I'm just glad that our school community is 100% behind our crossing guards. We pitch in and buy them goodies and people bring them presents at winter break and the end of school. I think they know they are loved and their work is appreciated because they are usually smiling and come back year after year.
Moreover, when some asshat decides to mouth off and threaten them, one parent starts taking down license details while multiple others surround the vehicle and cover the threatened guard. We (meaning me and about ten other beefy parents) held one guy there until the cops came and hauled him and his threatening mouth and body away and towed his pickup truck. Amazing how his facial expressions and attitude changed when that woman he verbaly abused and physically threatened instantly grew an angry and protective mob around her.
Police cite driver
Boston Police report citing the elderly driver with negligent operation and failure to yield to a pedestrian. Conley remains in critical condition at Boston Medical Center.
Unnamed?
Unnamed? The globe interviewed Anis G. Cazeau yesterday.
