Samaritans help bring down alleged purse snatcher on School Street

Boston Police report that when a woman at Cosi, 53 State St., yelled "He's stealing my purse!" around 12:40 p.m. today, several bystanders noticed a guy with a silver purse running out of the restaurant and began running after him.
The guy turned onto School Street, where a detail officer noticed the chase and joined in. Police say he and an off-duty Providence cop actually brought the suspect down.
Dana Funderburg, 46, now faces a charge of larceny by purse snatching.

A cop on detail is one more piece of safety and security for all of us. I bet the woman who's bag got swiped was happy that the Boston cop was there on detail (and grateful that the Providence cop went above and beyond his duty). You all laugh now but one day when you need one and instead you see some goof standing there with a flag instead you'll be sorry.

Yup, because we're all defenseless victims and only the police can save us.

I'm glad the snatcher got snatched, BUT puhleeze with annointing the detail cop all this phony glory...The cop was at the right place at the right time, and probably just woke up from his nap or just came back fron Dunkin Donuts right around the corner from his "detail"....This is one isolated incident where the cop was their but 95% of the times these details are a waste of our hard earned cash...I for one don't like shelling out forty bucks an hour, an have an "officer" slouched down in his car snoring like a bear during hibernation, puhleeze enough of this phony detail crap, give me the goof with the flag, instead of the phony bleepin boys in blue... thank you Deval keep it up...
